Description
Eisberg, often referred to as Iceburg, is the charismatic mayor of the island city of Water 7 and the president of the Galley-La Company, the world’s premier shipbuilding organization. Standing at an imposing height, he is recognized by his swept-back blue hair and deep purple lips, but his most distinguishing feature is the small white mouse he keeps in his breast pocket, a pet he whimsically named Tyrannosaurus. His age is stated to be 38 during the main storyline, with a birthday on January 3rd.

Eisberg possesses a complex personality that contrasts a relaxed, almost childish demeanor with the profound seriousness of a leader burdened by great responsibility. When at ease, he acts on pure whimsy, canceling all his official meetings on a whim, refusing to see people simply because he dislikes them, or picking up stray animals to care for them. This behavior frustrates his subordinates but makes him widely beloved. However, when the situation demands it, he shifts into a decisive and authoritative figure, demonstrating a sharp mind and unwavering resolve. He speaks with a characteristic verbal tic, often starting sentences with a grunt like "nmaa" to express frustration or contemplation.

His background is rooted in the legendary shipwright Tom, whose apprentices included both Eisberg and the future Cyborg Franky. After Tom was unjustly executed by the World Government, Eisberg inherited not only his master's skills but also a terrible burden: the blueprints for the ancient weapon Pluton. His primary motivation became protecting these blueprints from falling into the wrong hands. To do this, he employed a brilliant strategy of public trust and political maneuvering. He unified Water 7’s seven rival shipbuilding companies into the Galley-La Company, making it indispensable to the World Government and creating a position of power from which the government could not easily remove him. He accepted the role of mayor to further entrench his influence, all while secretly guarding the dangerous knowledge he possessed.

Eisberg's role in the story is pivotal as a mentor and ally to the Straw Hat Pirates. Initially, he is suspicious and hostile toward Nico Robin, the sole person capable of reading the Poneglyphs needed to activate Pluton, and for a time, he believes she must be eliminated. After being shot and nearly killed by the Cipher Pol 9 agents who had infiltrated his inner circle, he survives and his perspective changes. He learns the truth about Robin's sacrifice for her crewmates and recognizes his error, becoming a key supporter of the pirates. He famously uses his master's motto, "With a DON!", to inspire Franky and reaffirm their shared legacy. After the Enies Lobby incident, he leads his shipwrights in constructing the Straw Hats' new vessel, the Thousand Sunny, and even names the ship himself.

Key relationships define his journey. His bond with Franky is a central pillar: a brotherhood strained by rivalry, guilt, and tragedy during their youth, but ultimately rooted in deep trust and mutual respect. He gave Franky his nickname and later entrusted him with the Pluton blueprints to keep them safe. Despite years of conflict over Franky's dangerous warship creations, which led to Tom's death, Eisberg reconciles with him, tearfully expressing joy that Franky is alive. The citizens and workers of Water 7 hold him in high esteem, ready to fight for their mayor whom they view as a hero who saved their dying city with the Sea Train and his unifying leadership.

As a shipwright, Eisberg is a genius of the highest caliber, capable of building and repairing ships that others consider impossible to fix, such as the Sea Train Rocketman and the Going Merry for its final voyage. His leadership abilities are equally formidable. He successfully united a fractured industry, governs a major city, and outmaneuvers global powers through sheer intellect and political savvy. Beyond his technical and political skills, he possesses remarkable physical endurance, remaining conscious and active even after suffering life-threatening injuries from the CP9 assassins. Eisberg evolves from a secretive and mistrustful guardian of a dangerous secret to a forgiving ally and visionary leader who dreams of transforming his entire island into a ship to protect it from the destructive Aqua Laguna.
