Nekomamushi is a cat Mink and one of the two rulers of the Mokomo Dukedom on the island of Zou, where he governs during the night hours as the Ruler of the Night. He is a large, yellow feline Mink with dark brown stripes, sharp teeth, claws, a thick striped tail, and a wild, bushy blonde mane that resembles a lion’s mane around his neck and back. A scar runs from the left side of his forehead down to his cheek. He was once a close retainer of the Wano lord Kozuki Oden and a member of the Nine Red Scabbards, having sailed with Oden aboard the Whitebeard Pirates and later the Roger Pirates during his youth. After Oden’s death, he was sent twenty years into the future and spent much of that time traveling, even seeking out the Whitebeard Pirates again in search of allies. His personality is bold, aggressive, and fiercely independent, with a stubborn and sometimes merciless streak, though he also displays a welcoming and caring nature toward those he trusts. He is known to be afraid of needles, loves taking baths and eating lasagna, and values his freedom above all else. His deep loyalty to the Kozuki family and his commitment to protecting Zou and Wano drive his actions, leading him to set aside a long and bitter feud with his fellow ruler Inuarashi in order to join the raid on Onigashima and fight for Wano’s liberation. In the story, Nekomamushi serves as a key ally to the Straw Hat Pirates during the Zou and Wano arcs, helping to form the Ninja-Pirate-Mink-Samurai Alliance and playing a pivotal role in the assault on Kaido’s forces. His important relationships include Inuarashi, his childhood friend and rival with whom he shares a complex history of conflict and reconciliation; Kozuki Oden, his lord who saved his life and inspired his unwavering loyalty; Marco the Phoenix, a trusted comrade whose aid he secures for the Alliance; and the members of the Heart Pirates, whom he sheltered upon their arrival on Zou. Throughout his journey, Nekomamushi develops from a headstrong and isolated figure into a cooperative and strategic leader who can put aside personal grudges for a greater cause. As a Mink, he possesses immense physical strength, speed, and the ability to generate and manipulate electricity through Electro, using it both offensively and defensively. He is also proficient in both Armament and Observation Haki, which he employs alongside the other Red Scabbards to pierce Kaido’s defenses. His most formidable ability is the Sulong transformation, a full-moon-triggered state that massively amplifies his power, causing his body to grow larger, his eyes to turn red, and his fur to turn white and voluminous, granting him devastating speed and strength. In this form, he uses techniques such as the Red Cat Dance, a powerful clawed charge, and the Oden One-Sword Style technique Cat's Laughing Clash to defeat strong opponents like Perospero.
