Claus-Peter Damitz is a German actor and voice actor born in Essen in 1960. He began his career in theater, working as a directing assistant at a children's and youth theater in Essen before studying at the University of Music and Theatre in Hannover. He became an ensemble member at the renowned Grips-Theater in Berlin and found significant success with the musical Linie 1, performing in it over five hundred times in various cities, including Vienna, as well as on international tours to Paris, New York City, and Melbourne. His transition to voice acting began in 1988, encouraged by his colleague, the actress Hansi Jochmann. While he has lent his voice to numerous live-action roles—most notably as the German voice of Peter Dinklage in Game of Thrones and for characters in series like The Simpsons—he has built an extensive and highly prolific career in anime dubbing.

Damitz's voice is a familiar presence in many of the most significant anime films and series released in Germany. His work spans multiple acclaimed productions from Studio Ghibli, including the role of Muska in Castle in the Sky, Kouichi in Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, and Okino, Kiki's father, in Kiki's Little Delivery Service. He also voiced Flanagan in the Studio Ponoc film Mary and The Witch's Flower.

In long-running and popular series, Damitz has taken on memorable roles. He is the voice of the titular character Koro-sensei in the Assassination Classroom franchise, including the main series, the movie Assassination Classroom the Movie: 365 Days' Time, and the spin-off Koro Sensei Quest!. He also voices the Narrator in the Baki anime series, including Baki Hanma, and has roles in the One Piece franchise, such as Fukuro in the special One Piece Episode of Merry: Mō Hitori no Nakama no Monogatari. His other prominent credits include Tsunetomo Yamamoto in Godzilla Singular Point, Tobi in New Fist of the North Star, Amon in Witch Hunter Robin, and Ashram in the Record of Lodoss War series.
