Description
Marguerite is a member of the Kuja tribe who resides on the island of Amazon Lily. She is a young woman with short, unruly blond hair, long slender legs, and a slim, curvaceous figure. Her typical attire consists of a bikini top and miniskirt made from animal skin, a white cape, and a black-and-white striped legging on one leg, often accompanied by high-heeled boots. She keeps a striped snake wrapped around her waist, a custom among many Kuja women.
Marguerite harbors deep admiration for Boa Hancock, the Pirate Empress and leader of her tribe. She is an honest and moral individual; when a child opponent attacked her, she could not bring herself to strike back. Her naivety about men is evident after she encounters Monkey D. Luffy, whom she initially mistakes for a woman. Upon learning his true gender, she becomes curious about male anatomy and even asks Luffy to remove his "kintama" for her to see, taking his literal explanations at face value. Despite the island's strict prohibition against men, she grows attached to Luffy and admits that spending too much time with him would cause her to become emotionally invested.
Her role in the story begins during the Amazon Lily Arc, when she, along with Aphelandra and Sweet Pea, discovers Luffy after he eats poisonous mushrooms that cover his body. Believing him to be a woman, they bring him to the tribe and help remove the mushrooms. She later sews a new outfit for Luffy, replicating his old vest and shorts but adding a floral pattern and frills. When Luffy is sentenced to fight to the death, Marguerite, Aphelandra, and Sweet Pea attempt to protect him and take full blame for his presence on the island. Boa Hancock petrifies all three of them, but Luffy sets their stone bodies aside, hoping to reverse the effect. Later, during the battle between Luffy and Hancock's sisters, Marguerite is used as a hostage, but Luffy's use of Supreme King Haki saves her.
After the two-year timeskip, Marguerite becomes a full member of the Kuja Pirates, implying she has grown strong enough to join the crew, which only accepts the tribe's finest warriors. She remains a loyal friend to Luffy and continues to serve under Hancock.
Marguerite is a skilled seamstress and enjoys eating dumplings. Her primary combat ability is archery; she uses her snake as a bow to fire arrows, which she can imbue with Armament Haki. This allows her arrows to pierce through trees with ease, making her a formidable ranged fighter even though she is unaware of Haki's broader applications, such as suppressing Devil Fruits. She also knows how to swim, demonstrated when she leaps into the sea infested with Sea Kings to save Luffy from drowning. Throughout her appearances, Marguerite shows growth from a curious and naive villager into a capable warrior who takes an active role in the Kuja Pirates. Her relationship with Luffy is marked by mutual respect and a willingness to defy tradition for the sake of friendship.
