Morley is a giant and a newkama who serves as the commander of the West Army of the Revolutionary Army in One Piece. Originally a pirate from West Blue, Morley was imprisoned in Impel Down over a century ago and became the first person to ever escape that prison, doing so by using their Devil Fruit ability to carve out tunnels between the fifth and sixth levels. Those tunnels later became the secret refuge known as Newkama Land, or Level 5.5, which was discovered by Emporio Ivankov. Morley’s personality is gentle and polite, with a flamboyant, feminine manner of speech despite having the outward appearance and voice of a middle-aged man. They proudly identify as a newkama and often react with playful coyness when stared at. Morley’s motivations are aligned with the Revolutionary Army’s goal of overthrowing the World Government. As a commander, they lead the West Army and have taken part in major operations, including the liberation of Lulusia Kingdom and the infiltration of Mariejois during the Reverie, where they fought against Admiral Ryokugyu and helped rescue the enslaved Bartholomew Kuma. Morley shares a close friendship with Emporio Ivankov, whose personality matches their own, and they also work alongside the other army commanders such as Belo Betty, Lindbergh, and Karasu. Over the course of the story, Morley has developed from a notorious pirate into a loyal revolutionary, showing deep concern for their comrades, as seen when they were relieved by Sabo’s safe return. In terms of abilities, Morley ate the Oshi Oshi no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows them to push and manipulate the ground as if it were clay. This power lets them move underground, reshape terrain, and attack by shifting large sections of earth. As a giant, Morley possesses tremendous physical strength and a longer-than-human lifespan. They wield a large harpoon-trident in combat and have demonstrated proficiency in both Observation Haki and Armament Haki.
