Description
Kerry Funck, also known as Kelly Funk, is a character from the Dressrosa arc. He hails from the Mogaro Kingdom in the New World and is the older half of the infamous criminal duo known as the Funk Brothers. At 36 years old, he stands at 168 centimeters tall and carries a bounty of 57,000,000 berries. His birthday is December 9th, and his blood type is X. Before arriving in Dressrosa, Kerry and his younger brother Bobby had already gained a notorious reputation in the underworld, reportedly having defeated pirates with bounties exceeding 100,000,000 berries.

Personality-wise, Kerry is defined by a volatile and aggressive temperament. His most prominent trait is an intense insecurity regarding his short stature. He becomes enraged at any remark about his height, often continuing to pummel an opponent long after they have lost consciousness if they insult him. This insecurity fuels his belligerent and ruthless nature in combat. Beyond his temper, Kerry is deeply deceitful and ungrateful. He operates on a purely self-serving code, willing to betray anyone, even those who have recently helped him, if it serves his goals.

Kerrys motivations are rooted in pragmatism and self-interest. While he entered the Corrida Colosseum in Dressrosa to compete for the Flame-Flame Fruit, his actions are less about grand ambition and more about survival and personal gain. He later attempts to collect the bounties on Monkey D. Luffy and Trafalgar Law, showcasing that his primary drive is acquiring money and power rather than loyalty to a cause.

His role in the story is primarily as an antagonistic force during the Dressrosa arc. As a contestant in Block C of the Colosseum tournament, he serves as an obstacle for the other fighters. After being freed from being turned into a toy, he later pretends to ally with Luffy and his group, only to lead them into a trap, cementing his role as a treacherous and untrustworthy minor antagonist.

Kerrys most significant relationship is with his younger brother, Bobby Funk. Their partnership is a symbiotic one born of necessity. Bobby is physically massive, possessing incredible durability and raw strength, but has a gentle, non-confrontational personality and claims never to have been in a fight. Kerry, on the other hand, has the fighting instinct, ferocity, and technique but lacks the physical power due to his small body. Together, they form a single effective combat unit, with Kerry acting as the controller and Bobby as the vessel. This relationship is entirely pragmatic, as Kerry depends on his brothers body to be effective in battle.

Kerry undergoes little positive character development, remaining consistently self-serving and violent. His arc is more of a descent from a threatening competitor to a defeated and opportunistic schemer. After suffering a major defeat in the colosseum at the hands of Sai, he and his brother are turned into toy slaves by Sugar. Upon being freed, they show brief gratitude but immediately revert to their selfish nature, attempting to betray Luffy for profit. This betrayal leads to their final defeat at the hands of one of Doflamingos string clones, after which their fate is left unknown.

Kerrys notable abilities come almost entirely from his Devil Fruit. He ate the Jacket-Jacket Fruit, a Paramecia-type fruit that allows him to transform his body into a jacket. When another person or animal wears this jacket, Kerry can completely control their body, combining his own aggressive fighting style with the physical attributes of the wearer. By himself, his fighting skill is limited, as demonstrated when he is easily knocked out by the gladiator Boo. His primary technique, activated only when wearing his brother Bobby, involves using Bobbys superior strength and durability to unleash a devastating flurry of punches known as the Rarara Rampage.
