TV-Series
Description
Amoru is a young girl encountered by the protagonists Akira and Yugure during their journey across a transformed and war-torn future Japan. Her past is marked by tragedy, and she is initially searching for a picture book created by her parents, which has been banned and designated as a forbidden item in this new world. This quest is deeply tied to her personal dream of one day becoming a picture book author herself, following in her parents' creative footsteps.
In terms of personality, Amoru is presented as a determined individual, though her emotional world is complex and often driven by a strong desire for connection. After being rescued by Akira and Yugure, she becomes fiercely loyal and dedicated to them. This devotion, however, evolves into a sense of romantic entitlement. She develops feelings for both Akira and Yugure and is a strong proponent of forming an "Elsie" or "LC," a futuristic union similar to marriage that is not limited to only two people. Her love is portrayed as something she feels she has earned through her sacrifices and loyalty, such as the seven years she spent caring for the sleeping Akira and Yugure, leading to friction when her affections are not immediately reciprocated.
Her role in the story is primarily that of a companion and a third point in a central romantic triangle. After joining Akira and Yugure, she travels with them, participating in key events such as infiltrating a library to find her parents' books and getting caught in the schemes of the ruling OWEL organization. Her desire to be in a relationship with her two companions drives a significant portion of the interpersonal drama in the latter half of the series, culminating in a direct clash of values with Akira and Yugure over the nature of love. Her dedication to the group is unwavering, but her methods and expectations become a source of conflict.
Amoru shares her most important relationships with Akira and Yugure, the two individuals she wishes to marry. Her dynamic with Akira is marked by her romantic pursuit of him, often in competition with his lingering feelings for his lost love, Towasa. With Yugure, her relationship is more complex, blending camaraderie and affection with rivalry. A significant turning point in her character arc occurs when she fuses with Yoiyami, an android commander of the OWEL special forces who shares a physical resemblance to Yugure. This fusion results in a new, merged consciousness that possesses both Amoru's and Yoiyami's personalities, transforming her into a formidable adversary who directly confronts Akira and Yugure in the final episodes.
As for notable abilities, Amoru does not initially display any extraordinary powers. Her primary capability is her unwavering determination and her role as the emotional heart of her small group, caring for her companions during extended periods of recovery. Her most significant transformation occurs late in the series when she gains a new body and abilities by fusing with the powerful android Yoiyami. In this state, she is able to launch powerful attacks and engage in direct combat against Yugure, representing a major shift from her original role as a vulnerable human girl.
