Alex Chamade, often called Alex, is the youngest of three sisters who are the central figures of Cat's Eye. She is a student in her teens, about fourteen or fifteen years old at the start of the story. Her personality is cheerful, lively, and enthusiastic, often lifting the spirits of those around her, though she can also be impulsive, stubborn, and somewhat scatterbrained. Beneath her joyful exterior, she has a sensitive side tied to her deep longing for her missing father. As the technical and mechanical expert of the group, she designs and builds many of the gadgets and equipment used in their heists, including communication devices, security alarm disablers, flash bombs, and smoke screens. Because of her youth, her older sisters Sylia and Tam initially keep her away from the most dangerous missions, which she resents, but over time she proves her reliability and takes on more active roles. During the day, she helps run the Cat's Eye café. Her motivation, shared with her sisters, is to recover the collection of paintings belonging to their missing father, a German artist, in the belief that doing so will lead to finding him. Her bond with her sisters is paramount: Sylia is the strategic leader, and Tam is the athletic field operative whom Alex supports from behind the scenes. Throughout the series, Alex develops from a sidelined younger sister into a confident and integral member of the team, using her ingenuity and technological prowess to outmaneuver the police.
