TV-Series
Description
Noriko Nakajima is a fifth-grade student at Domori Elementary School, enrolled in class 5-3. She is characterized as a sweet, gentle, and largely ordinary girl compared to many of her classmates. Noriko has shoulder-length pink hair and purple eyes, and she is often described as having a quiet, laid-back demeanor with a cozy and unassuming personality. She is academically strong and earns good grades, but she is not athletic and tends to be slow when running. Noriko loves animals and is known for her gentle nature. She does not actively seek out trouble, but supernatural events and spiritual phenomena consistently find her, making her a frequent target for the various yokai and ghosts that appear throughout the series.

Noriko's personality is generally docile and reserved, which sometimes leads to her being bullied by the class tough Masaru Kaneda and teased by Miki Hosokawa for not standing out. Despite her typical quietness, she occasionally displays a more playful and uninhibited side, especially when influenced by supernatural occurrences. She claims to have a good memory and to sing well, though in practice she can be forgetful and is not particularly skilled with machines or singing. She is also a bookworm and has demonstrated sharp problem-solving skills, once playing a key role in resolving a creepy incident involving the ghost of the school library and a series of kidnappings linked to a book that was also her favorite.

Motivationally, Noriko does not have a grand personal quest. She is primarily driven by a desire for a peaceful, ordinary life, yet she consistently finds herself drawn into paranormal situations. She often reacts with surprise or fear but also shows resilience and a willingness to help her friends and teacher Nube when crises arise. Her role in the story begins as a background character, often seen alongside her best friend Shizuka Kikuchi, but over time she becomes one of the more prominent members of the class. She is a consistent participant in the supernatural encounters that define the series, and her normalcy often contrasts with the bizarre events around her.

In terms of relationships, Noriko is closest to Shizuka Kikuchi, with the two frequently appearing together. She also interacts regularly with her teacher Meisuke Nueno (Nube), who protects the class from spiritual threats. Noriko sometimes finds herself the object of rivalry from Miki Hosokawa, who becomes jealous when Noriko inadvertently draws attention away from her due to her cute appearance and the second-largest bust in the class. Despite this tension, Noriko remains part of the broader class group and is generally well-liked.

Noriko does not possess any innate supernatural abilities. Her notable trait is her cleverness and her ability to think tactically in stressful situations, which has proven valuable in solving certain cases. She is also a consistent target for spiritual possession and attacks, which places her at the center of several memorable story arcs. Over the course of the series, she develops from a shy and overlooked student into a more confident and active participant in the group's adventures, though she retains her fundamental gentle and quiet nature. She has been described as a late-blooming hidden heroine within the narrative and enjoys considerable popularity among fans, partly due to a well-known episode involving a color fairy pouch.
