Description
Hiro Segawa is a main heroine of the story and a second-year student at Megurogawa Academy, where she is widely recognized as the top performer academically. At seventeen years old with a birthday on May 2nd, she stands at 162 centimeters tall. Her family background is notable, as she is the heir to an old Shinto shrine, a role that comes with significant responsibilities and expectations for her future. Despite her poised and composed image, she harbors a secret reluctance about this predetermined path and has an arranged fiancé she has never met.

Personality-wise, Hiro is defined by a strong competitive drive, particularly when it comes to class rankings, where she is determined to maintain her number-one position. This rivalry is most pronounced with her classmate Nagi Umino, who secretly admires her and is her primary academic competitor. However, beneath this perfectionist exterior lies a surprisingly clumsy and socially awkward individual who can be quite naive. One of her most endearing traits is her passionate fandom for her friend Erika Amano, whom she approaches with an almost overwhelming enthusiasm that has been described as that of a superfan. Hiro also has a hobby of collecting temple stamps and possesses an unusual love for the speckled caiman as her favorite animal.

Her role in the story is central, serving as the object of Nagi's initial affections, which complicates his forced engagement to Erika. At school, she is friends with Erika, having approached her first out of admiration. Her relationship with Nagi evolves from purely academic rivals to a romantic connection, eventually becoming his girlfriend. She values honesty highly and once made Nagi promise never to lie to her. Despite her popularity and success, she is noted to have few close friends.

Hiro possesses a range of notable abilities that extend beyond her intellectual achievements. In addition to her academic excellence, she is highly skilled in martial arts, holding a third-dan black belt in karate and practicing kickboxing as a hobby. This physical prowess is demonstrated by her powerful kicks, which can effortlessly push Nagi backward. She also helps with duties as a shrine maiden, which includes tasks related to her family's religious heritage. Her handwriting is famously elegant when using a pen or pencil, though it transforms into impressive calligraphy when applied with a brush.
