Description
Enjin is a central figure in the story, serving as a member of the Cleaners and the leader of Team Akuta. He is the first person the protagonist Rudo meets after arriving in the Ground, becoming his mentor and a reliable older brother figure. Standing at 190 cm tall and 28 years old, Enjin has a notable presence, though his most distinguishing features are the circumstances of his past.

His background is marked by tragedy and a significant personal transformation. Born with the extremely long name Endoareilychima Illastsalli Machiada Leotrago Sphidi Pharjin, he was an orphan in an institution that branded children to eventually sell them as slaves. After running away from this life, he was found and saved by a man named Alto Surebrec, who is later revealed to be Rudo's father. Alto gave him the abbreviated name Enjin, explaining that in an ancient language it means someone who connects others, a destiny that Enjin has since embraced wholeheartedly. Alto also gave him a weathered umbrella, which would later become his signature Vital Instrument.

Enjin's personality is a blend of gruff pragmatism and deep-seated loyalty. While he can be bold and rough, once even leaving Rudo with bandits as a harsh lesson, he fundamentally acts as a dependable and supportive leader. He is known for encouraging his comrades, acknowledging their skills, and helping them work through personal traumas and insecurities. For example, he has helped Riyo through her past as a hitman and provided counsel to Rudo when he was plagued by guilt. He dislikes rain and admits to not being good with immature or troublesome women, yet he shows great patience and understanding towards his team. He is highly respected by his peers, though even he finds some individuals, like a character named Kuro, difficult to talk to.

In the story, Enjin acts as the anchor for Team Akuta, which includes Rudo, Zanka, and Riyo. His primary motivation is to fulfill his role as a connector of people, guiding his team and protecting the fragile order of the Ground from threats like Trash Beasts and the antagonistic Raiders. He is a key figure in the Cleaners organization, maintaining a complex relationship with its higher-ranking members while serving as a direct counter to the oppressive Hell Guard. Throughout the narrative, Enjin has demonstrated significant development, most notably in how his past has been revealed to directly connect to Rudo, explaining his deep-seated reason for taking the boy under his wing.

Enjin is a highly skilled and experienced Giver, his abilities centered on his Vital Instrument, which he named Umbreaker. The umbrella can double in size, act as a shield, and even allow him to fly for short distances. His offensive techniques involve spinning it at high speeds to use as a drill, with powerful moves like Octa-Shredder, where he drops from a height to unleash a devastating area-of-effect strike, and Long-Range Spinning Umbrella, which uses a wire to extend his reach. Beyond his physical prowess, his greatest strengths are his sharp intuition, which allows him to make the best tactical decisions, and his exceptional social skills, which make him an effective leader and mentor. His physical capabilities are also immense, allowing him to destroy multiple Trash Beasts in the blink of an eye and send powerful enemies crashing through walls with a single strike.
