Description
Dotta Luzulas is a character from the anime Sentenced to Be a Hero. A male criminal sentenced to the ultimate punishment known as the Hero Execution, his crime record is staggering: he has committed over a thousand thefts on his own, an act deemed "serious treason against the state". His criminal specialty is stealing, and his compulsion is indiscriminate. Dotta will attempt to steal anything, from a worthless trinket to a goddess's coffin, and he possesses the genuine skill to do so.

In stark contrast to his legendary criminal status, Dotta's personality is defined by his extreme timidity. He is notably cowardly and constantly on edge, possessing a heightened sensitivity to the presence and intentions of others. This fearful nature is not a weakness in the field, however, as it makes him a cautious and vigilant member of his penal unit. His defining flaw is his uncontrollable kleptomania. He has a compulsive need to steal that he cannot seem to control, often acting on impulse and lamenting that he only realizes he is stealing after he has already done it. This pathological habit frequently brings trouble upon himself and his allies despite his best intentions.

Within the story of Sentenced to Be a Hero, Dotta serves as a crucial secondary character. He is a member of the penal hero unit, a group of condemned criminals forced to carry out dangerous missions. Despite his personality and disorder, he is a highly valued asset to his team. His primary role is that of a scout and spotter, a duty he is perfectly suited for thanks to his years as a thief. His excellent night vision allows him to see clearly in darkness, and his paranoid sensitivity to his surroundings makes him adept at detecting danger early. Beyond reconnaissance, Dotta also demonstrates remarkable talent in logistics, proving to be a genius at managing supplies and keeping the unit operational. He is known to steal necessary supplies from other units to ensure his own team does not go without.

Dotta's impulsive actions are directly responsible for initiating the plot's central chain of events. At the beginning of the story, his kleptomania compels him to steal a large coffin, an act which inadvertently leads to the fateful meeting between the two main characters, Teoritta and Xylo Forbartz. His key relationships within the unit are primarily functional. He is often paired with another character, Chavs, to serve as the team's eyes and ears in the field. While his comrades may be frustrated by the constant problems his stealing causes, his indispensable skills as a logistical genius and an early warning system likely secure his place within the unit.

Dotta's development is subtle but present. While he never fully masters his kleptomania, his role evolves from a simple liability into a controlled necessity. His talents as a scout and quartermaster are not just quirks but core components of the team's survival strategy. He learns to function within the chaos of his own disorder, turning his pathological need to take things into a functional, if irregular, way of providing for his allies. His notable abilities are entirely derived from his life of crime. He has unparalleled thieving skills, able to swipe anything from a soldier's pocket to a massive ceremonial casket. This is complemented by his superhuman night vision, his sensitive perception of others' presence, and an unexpected but highly developed aptitude for logistics and resource management.
