Description
Mestelexil the Box of Desperate Knowledge is an artificial being created by the engineer Kiyazuna the Axle. Originally a human professor from another world, he was transformed through experimentation into a homunculus and reborn with the appearance and demeanor of a young child. This childlike exterior, marked by playfulness and curiosity, belies his nature as a devastatingly powerful combatant. His personality is a disquieting blend of innocence and menace; he can laugh while fighting and show genuine interest in small things like a flower someone gives him, yet he is capable of immense destruction without hesitation.

His core motivation is largely dictated by his creator, Kiyazuna, who uses him as a weapon. However, Mestelexil also exhibits his own whims and desires, such as exploring the world and interacting with others he finds interesting. He participates in the Aureatia tournament that seeks to crown the True Hero, making him a major contender among the Shura—the superhuman beings who once fought the demon king.

Mestelexil’s most defining ability is his extraordinary regenerative power. He consists of two distinct parts: a homunculus core and a golem body. If one part is destroyed, the other part becomes invincible and immediately regenerates the lost component. This mutual dependency makes him functionally immortal under most circumstances—both parts must be destroyed simultaneously or the survivor must be finished before it can regenerate the other. He can also utilize word arts, a form of magical incantation, to further augment his combat capabilities. His construction and regenerative mechanism are described as a logical, near-perfect system of shared existence, often referred to as a curse.

His key relationship is with Kiyazuna, who crafted him and retains control over his actions. Mestelexil views his creator with a mixture of loyalty and dependency. He has also crossed paths with other Shura, such as Toroa the Awful, in battle, demonstrating his willingness to fight when ordered or when his curiosity is piqued. Throughout the story, he remains a constant threat—a seemingly innocent child whose presence heralds catastrophic force, yet he also shows traces of genuine emotion, suggesting a deeper development as he encounters the world beyond his creator’s designs.
