Description
Aoba Wakura is the older sister of the protagonist, Yuuki Wakura. She disappeared six years prior to the main events of the story during a Mato Disaster, an event that involves the sudden appearance of a dangerous alternate dimension known as Mato. Her disappearance is a formative event for her younger brother, shaping his motivations early in the narrative. It is later revealed that after vanishing, Aoba consumed a Peach within Mato. This fruit is the source of the supernatural powers that women in this world can wield, but its effects on her spiraled out of control, causing a mutation that transformed her into a Humanoid Shuuki, a being far more powerful than a standard human.

Despite her transformation, Aoba retains her human consciousness and sense of self. Her personality is defined by a deep, protective love for her brother, which manifests as a strong brother complex. She is not an evil character, though her methods can appear unorthodox and antagonistic from an outside perspective. After her disappearance, she spent years learning to master her volatile powers while hiding to maintain her sanity. Eventually, she escaped from the facility where she was held and became the commander of a Hidden Village, a sanctuary for other Humanoid Shuuki who are outcasts from human society. In this role, she is respected by her fellow Shuuki, who look up to her as an elder sister figure.

Aoba's primary motivation is to protect her brother and the community of Humanoid Shuuki under her care. She holds a deep-seated anger toward the Onmyou Agency, the organization that governs the Anti-Demon Corps, viewing it as a corrupt entity responsible for the injustices she and her kind have suffered. This leads her to orchestrate a rebellion against the agency. Upon reuniting with Yuuki, she initially kidnaps him to bring him to her Hidden Village, hoping to keep him safe from what she perceives as a harmful organization that treats him as a tool.

Her role in the story is that of a complex ally and antagonist. She is a powerful figure whose goals initially put her in direct conflict with the Anti-Demon Corps, particularly with Kyouka Uzen, the captain of the 7th unit to which Yuuki is enslaved. Their relationship begins with hostility due to their conflicting objectives. However, after witnessing Kyouka's genuine concern for Yuuki during an assault by the Thunder Gods, a group of powerful supernatural beings, Aoba's perspective shifts significantly. She comes to trust Kyouka, alongside Tenka Izumo of the 6th Division, becoming a reluctant ally against greater threats.

As a Humanoid Shuuki, Aoba possesses extraordinary physical abilities that rival those of the Anti-Demon Corps Chiefs, the most powerful warriors. Her combat prowess is further enhanced by her unique ability to consume multiple Peaches, which grants her a diverse set of powers that most women cannot attain. Her notable abilities include manipulating her own hair, which she can freely extend to restrain opponents, harden to pierce through objects, or tear off into bundles to fire as projectiles. She can also fire a devastating, highly destructive energy beam from her mouth, though this attack requires a charge-up period and cannot be fired rapidly. Her physical strength, enhanced senses, and incredible life force, which grants her potent healing and stamina, make her an extremely formidable combatant.
