Description
Civit Garland, also known by the epithet Humanity's Strongest, serves as the leader of the Black Dragon Knights, the primary military force of the Bakoss Empire. He holds the highest rank among the Five Dragon Generals and is widely considered the most powerful human alive within the world of the story, a reputation so formidable that even the goddess Vicius regards him as a singularity beyond ordinary human limitations.
In terms of appearance, Civit Garland is described as a man around thirty years of age with long silver or white hair and distinctive red eyes. He is typically dressed in the attire befitting a knight of his high station.
His personality is defined by a deep-seated and almost consuming love for battle, particularly against worthy opponents. Having spent a considerable period without encountering anyone who could challenge his immense power, he had grown profoundly bored. This boredom fuels a peculiar and ultimately fatal trait: a willingness to let strong foes escape or continue training so that he might face them later at their full potential. He possesses a calm and fearless demeanor, approaching even unusual situations with curiosity. This is demonstrated when he notices something atypical about the protagonist, Mimori Touka, observing that even when outmatched, Touka appears strangely calm and smile. He has the ability to see through lies, which allows him to discern that Touka is no ordinary person, though he also correctly judges that Touka's current level of strength is not yet a true threat to him.
Civit Garlands primary role in the narrative is that of a formidable antagonist encountered early in the protagonists journey. The goddess Vicius dispatches him and his Black Dragon Knights on a mission to capture the fugitive elf princess, Seras Ashrain. This mission brings him into direct conflict with Touka, who has taken an interest in protecting her. Rather than a simple battle, their encounter becomes a tense negotiation. Bored and intrigued by Toukas claim that he will grow much stronger, Civit agrees to a temporary truce, allowing Touka and Seras to leave with the understanding that they will fight at a later date. This decision proves to be his undoing. Touka, lacking any sense of honor in a fair fight, seizes the moment when Civit and his men lower their guard after the truce is made. He immediately attacks with debilitating low-level spells, specifically Paralyze and Poison, incapacitating Civit and his entire unit before they can properly fight back. Despite the paralysis, Civit proves why he is considered Humanitys Strongest by managing to partially move his body even while the poison courses through him, but it is not enough to survive the ambush. His defeat results in the death of all five of the Black Dragon Knights and serves as a shocking moment for Seras, who realizes the ruthless pragmatism of her new companion.
Regarding his notable abilities, Civit Garlands primary power is his sheer, unexplained physical strength and combat prowess, which is sufficient to annihilate armies single-handedly. The source of this anomalous strength is a mystery to all, including the goddess Vicius. It is speculated that it must come from his paternal bloodline, though he is not a descendant of any heroes summoned from another world. In addition to his raw power, he possesses the supernatural ability to detect lies, a skill that aids him in assessing his opponents. His background includes family complexities; his half-brother is a character named Johndoe, and their mother was the one who revealed that Civits birth mother had passed away. His fathers identity remains unknown.
