Joe Kido, also known as Kido Jō, is a central figure throughout the Digimon Adventure series, including the film *Last Evolution Kizuna*. Born on January 29, 1987, in Hikarigaoka, he lived with his parents and two older brothers. Descended from a long line of doctors, Joe faced significant pressure to enter the medical profession. His childhood included witnessing the 1995 battle between Greymon and Parrotmon, an event that led to his selection as a DigiDestined and his family's subsequent relocation to Odaiba after the incident was blamed on terrorism. In *Digimon Adventure* (1999), Joe stands as the oldest DigiDestined, partnered with Gomamon and bearing the Crest of Reliability (Sincerity in Japanese media). Characterized by anxiety, self-consciousness, and a powerful sense of responsibility, he often adopts a cautious "safety first" mentality. Despite his nervous disposition, he acts bravely to protect others, such as plunging into water to save Takeru Takaishi (T.K.). This act of courage helps Yamato Ishida (Matt) unlock WereGarurumon. His consistent reliability and selflessness earn the group's trust, even as he struggles with clumsiness and academic pressures. By *Digimon Adventure 02* (2002), Joe shifts focus intensely onto his studies to become a doctor, taking a secondary role but still aiding the new DigiDestined. He notably helps Cody Hida (Iori) discover the Digi-Egg of Sincerity, enabling Armadillomon to Armor Digivolve into Submarimon. In May 2000, he sacrifices his Crest's power to free the Four Holy Beasts, temporarily costing Gomamon the ability to become Zudomon. During *Digimon Adventure tri.* (2005), Joe is a disillusioned high school student questioning the perpetual need to save the world. Prioritizing his studies due to mediocre exam grades creates conflict with Gomamon, leading to a temporary separation that forces Joe to reassess his duties. When Gomamon and Agumon feign injuries to test his resolve, Joe initially dismisses them. However, after a real truck accident, he overcomes his fear of blood to save Gomamon. He later oversees Mimi Tachikawa's coma care at his hospital. Captured by Eosmon, Joe's consciousness is trapped in a childlike state within Menoa Bellucci's "Neverland." Freed by Taichi Yagami (Tai) using Hikari Yagami (Kari)'s whistle, he rejoins the final battle with Gomamon. The film concludes as their partnership ends due to the natural separation affecting aging DigiDestined. An epilogue reveals that by 2017, Joe becomes the Digital World's first Digimon doctor, though he still faints at the sight of excessive blood.
