Description
Metori Saiko is introduced as the fabulously wealthy heir of the Saiko Conglomerate, a top-tier financial empire, who transfers to PK Academy after becoming instantly smitten with Kokomi Teruhashi upon seeing her in the city. His background is defined by extreme privilege: he grew up spoiled and pampered, with his father's harsh education reinforcing the belief that money can solve any problem. As a result, Metori initially comes across as severely narcissistic, arrogant, and out of touch with ordinary life. He constantly bosses around classmates with stacks of money, brings his own chef to school for lunch, and employs bodyguards wherever he goes. His defining traits are his smugness and stubbornness, and he openly looks down on others as commoners.

His primary motivation at first is to win Kokomi Teruhashi's affection through displays of wealth and status, but he is frustrated to find that she remains indifferent to him, being more preoccupied with Kusuo Saiki. This unrequited crush, combined with his interactions with Kusuo and his friend group—particularly Riki Nendou, Shun Kaidou, and Aren Kuboyasu—gradually forces Metori to confront the limits of his money. He clashes repeatedly with these characters, who refuse to be bought or impressed, and who treat him like a normal person despite his attempts to flaunt his fortune.

In terms of role, Metori serves as a comedic foil and a recurring supporting character who represents the extreme of wealth-based entitlement. His presence often creates situations where the absurdity of his privilege is highlighted, and he inadvertently learns lessons about humility and genuine connection. His development is a gradual one: over the course of the series, he begins to soften, showing empathy and willingness to participate in activities without relying on money. By the end, he stops looking down on his classmates and starts to value them as friends, though he never fully loses his rich-kid habits.

Key relationships include his one-sided admiration for Kokomi Teruhashi, which slowly becomes less obsessive as he accepts her disinterest. He develops a grudging respect for Kusuo Saiki, who completely ignores his wealth and arrogance. His dynamic with Riki Nendou is initially hostile, but Nendou's friendly, oblivious nature eventually pulls Metori into social situations against his will, leading to comedic clashes and reluctant bonding. With Shun Kaidou, he mocks the Dark Reunion fantasies but eventually tolerates him. Metori also butts heads with Kineshi Hairo, whose hardworking attitude contrasts with his own laziness, yet Hairo's leadership influences him positively.

Notable abilities are not supernatural; Metori's primary asset is his immense wealth, which he uses to try to buy convenience, admiration, and solutions to problems. He has a personal chef, bodyguards, and has attempted to buy the entire PK Academy. Despite his snobbishness, he is shown to be intelligent and capable when he applies himself, though he typically relies on money rather than effort. His catchphrase, paraphrased, is that money can solve anything, a belief he slowly abandons as he forms real friendships.
