TV Special
Description
Mikoto Aiura is a high school student who transfers to PK Academy after reading her own fortune and learning that her destined soulmate would be there. She is a soothsayer, also known as an oracle, with the ability to foretell future events, see the auras of other people, and sense when someone is about to die. Her fortunes are consistently accurate unless someone with stronger powers, such as Kusuo Saiki, alters the timeline. She first appears roughly halfway through the series, entering Kusuo’s class and quickly deducing that he is the person she has been searching for after witnessing him save another student from a dangerous fall. This also makes her one of the few non-family members who knows about Kusuo’s psychic abilities, alongside Reita Toritsuka and Touma Akechi.
Mikoto has a confident, expressive, and outgoing personality. Unlike Kusuo, who hides his powers to avoid attention, she openly uses her fortune‑telling abilities to help anyone who asks, and she actively seeks to be taken seriously as a psychic. Her strong will and competitive nature are most evident in her comedic rivalry with Reita Toritsuka, which often involves pranks, challenges, and bickering. Despite her assertive and sometimes flirtatious demeanor, she is caring and empathetic toward her friends, quickly forming bonds with classmates such as Chiyo Yumehara and Chisato Mera. She also admires Kokomi Teruhashi for her charm and once attempted to imitate her more traditionally feminine style. Mikoto describes herself as a masochist and often fantasizes about romantic or provocative scenarios, though she becomes flustered when Kusuo acts confidently or selfishly. Academically, she is unmotivated and frequently sleeps in class, ranking near the bottom of her grade.
Her motivations center on finding and winning over her prophesied soulmate, which she believes to be Kusuo. She pursues him with a combination of staged encounters, invitations to eat sweets, and attempts to impress him with her abilities. At the same time, she genuinely wants to use her powers to help others, and she does so without expecting repayment—for example, locating Chisato Mera’s missing father and preventing a suicide. Outside of school, she takes part‑time work performing fortunes for adults, often charging high fees, which sometimes leads to dangerous situations. After being targeted by a gang who wanted to exploit her abilities, she agrees to be more cautious about publicly using her powers. During a national crisis involving a volcanic eruption, she plays a pivotal role by directing Kusuo’s clones to strategic locations to stop the lava flow.
Her abilities include aura vision, which allows her to gauge a person’s emotional and mental state, though this power is cancelled out when Kusuo is nearby. She can predict future events, often in a hyperbolic or comedic manner, and can see imminent death. Unlike Kusuo’s vast telepathic and telekinetic powers, her abilities are limited to divination and perception, but she can locate missing people or objects without clues—something even Kusuo cannot do. Her control over her powers is not always perfect, leading to misinterpretations and comical situations.
Mikoto’s relationship with Kusuo is a central part of her role in the story. She is a persistent love interest, providing both romantic tension and comedy as she attempts to win his affection while he tries to maintain his normal life. With Reita Toritsuka, she shares a constant rivalry that fuels many humorous exchanges, though the two occasionally work together to help solve problems. She also earns the approval of Kusuo’s grandmother, Kumi Saiki, after defending her from judgmental customers, and the two bond enough to go clubbing together.
Over the course of the series, Mikoto evolves from a competitive, fortune‑driven newcomer into a reliable ally who contributes meaningfully to the group. She learns to be more careful about using her powers in public and begins to prioritize the well‑being of others over her own romantic pursuit. Her willingness to help without ulterior motive, combined with her strong will and empathy, makes her a memorable addition to the cast. Her distinct gyaru fashion—long chartreuse hair, decorated nails, tanned skin, and accessories such as a Virgo‑shaped hairpin—visually sets her apart and reinforces her extroverted personality.
