Description
Machina Soleige serves as the female deuteragonist of Demon Lord 2099. She is one of the six dark peers, the most trusted vassals of the Demon Lord Veltol Velvet Velsvalt. Her background begins centuries before the story's present: after Veltol was defeated by the hero Gram, Machina used her magic to revive him more than five hundred years later, in the year 2099. During the long wait, she endured a sad and difficult existence, adapting alone to the upheaval caused when the magical world of Alneath merged with Earth in an event known as the Fantasion. That cataclysm erased national boundaries, sparked wars between city‑states, and eventually gave rise to a cyberpunk society where magic and technology are fused. Through all of this, Machina remained steadfast, her loyalty never wavering.
Machina’s personality is defined by deep devotion and resilience. She is pragmatic and patient, having spent half a millennium preparing for her master’s return. Though she carries the weight of her lonely vigil, she rarely shows despair; instead, she channels her focus into supporting Veltol’s ambitions. Her primary motivation is to serve and protect the Demon Lord, whose earlier kindness saved her and earned her absolute allegiance. She is also protective of the new allies they gather, such as the genius hacker Takahashi, with whom she forms a cooperative friendship.
In the story, Machina acts as Veltol’s anchor in the unfamiliar future. She introduces him to the changed world, helps him navigate the politics of Shinjuku, and stands beside him in confrontations against former allies turned enemies. Her role is both as a field commander and as a confidante, often providing the practical assistance needed for their plans to succeed.
Machina possesses formidable fire‑based magic. She can surround herself with flames in combat and shift into a more powerful battle form that greatly amplifies her offensive capabilities. Additionally, she is immortal, which allowed her to survive the centuries and endure wounds that would be lethal to others. This immortality, however, also meant she had to live through loss and isolation without an end.
Her key relationships are with Veltol (her liege and the one she resurrected), and with Takahashi, a hacker who becomes an ally and bridge to the technological side of their new world. Machina also once witnessed Veltol’s second form, a transformation previously seen only by the hero Gram, signifying the depth of trust between them.
Throughout the series, Machina’s development involves reconciling her centuries‑old loyalty with the rapidly evolving world around her. She remains unwavering in her devotion but learns to adapt to collaboration and modern tactics. Her unwavering dedication, coupled with her immense power and tragic past, makes her a central pillar of the Demon Lord’s revival and the conflicts that follow.
