Description
Grace is a character from the anime You are Ms. Servant. She is a skilled assassin and information broker who arrives in Japan with a specific interest in the series protagonist, Yuki. More than just an enemy, Grace is one of the few people aware of Yuki’s dark past as a legendary killer in the underworld.
Initially, Grace seeks to improve her own reputation by attempting to kill Yuki, viewing victory over such a formidable opponent as a way to elevate her status. Her motivations are not purely malevolent, however, as she harbors a personal dream of retiring peacefully on the Greek island of Santorini with a man she cares for, and achieving this prestige is part of that goal. When her plan fails and she is defeated by Yuki, Grace makes a promise to never target her again.
Following her defeat, Grace takes on a new identity, going by the name Nitta, and becomes a gym teacher at Ogiso High School, where Hitoyoshi Yokoya is a student. Her role in the story transforms from active antagonist to a curious observer. She is fascinated by the unusual situation of seeing the once-fearsome Yuki now working as a humble maid for an ordinary high school boy. From this vantage point, she watches the relationship between Yuki and Hitoyoshi develop, often finding amusement in their dynamic. She has a playful and curious nature, enjoys teasing Hitoyoshi, and has a taste for ramen, cigarettes, and alcohol.
Key relationships define her place in the narrative. Her connection to Yuki is built on a shared past, mutual respect born from combat, and a promise of non-aggression. When she provokes Yuki with light physical contact or pranks aimed at Hitoyoshi, Yuki quickly steps in to stop her. Her interest in Hitoyoshi is not personal but stems from her curiosity about why a legendary assassin would choose to serve him.
In terms of abilities, Grace openly admits that she is not the strongest fighter in direct combat, which is why she lost to Yuki. Instead, her specialties lie in disguise, infiltration, and eavesdropping. She uses these skills effectively to adopt a new life as a teacher and to monitor the people around her. Her development is marked by this transition from an active assassin trying to make a name for herself to a carefree, observant figure who chooses to watch the story of others unfold rather than violently intervene.
