Description
Momohime Amaha is the main heroine of Aquarion: Myth of Emotions and a student at the prestigious Private Enoshima Academy. She is selected to pilot the Vector Machines as one of the Elements, the group of young people who combine their machines to form the legendary giant Aquarion and defend Earth from interdimensional threats. Momohime is a considerate and justice-minded girl who is widely admired by her peers and has received numerous confessions of affection, all of which she turns down. She is unable to understand or feel the emotion of romantic love, and this inner struggle occupies her daily thoughts as she questions her own heart. She also lacks the emotion of self-preservation, which leads her to repeatedly put herself in harm's way to protect others. Her personality provides a distinct contrast to the other pilots, creating the necessary emotional friction or harmony required for the Aquarion's different forms. She shares deep, often volatile emotional connections with fellow pilots Sakko Otori and Rimiya Tsukishiro, bonds that are tested and amplified during combat through the Union process of the mecha. Momohime struggles with the vulnerability that the Union demands, but she gradually finds strength in her shared purpose with her teammates. Her role in the story is central to the tactical and emotional success of the team's sorties. She is the reincarnation of a mythic being named Sidonia from 12,000 years ago, carrying the fate of that past life into the present conflict. She apparently dies early in the series, an event that profoundly affects the remaining characters and drives the narrative forward. Her notable abilities include the specific emotional aptitude required to serve as an Element and the capacity to pilot the Vector Machines, contributing to the multi-pilot configuration of Aquarion.
