TV Special
Description
Tamama holds the rank of Private Second Class in the Keroro Platoon as its youngest and newest recruit. His appearance features a navy blue body in anime adaptations and black in the manga, marked by a yellow hat displaying the green-and-yellow Shoshinsha emblem—a Japanese symbol for beginners that underscores his juvenile status, further evidenced by his retained tadpole tail. Unusual for male Keronians, his eyes are highly expressive, resembling those of humans or female Keronians.
Originally a commoner from Planet Keron without inherent abilities, Tamama observed the Keroro Platoon's clash with the Black Stars faction. He first encountered Sergeant Keroro during the events of "Kero 0: Depart! Assembly of Everyone!!", developing immediate idolization that solidified into enduring loyalty and affection.
Tamama later arrived on Earth ("Pekopon") and was rescued by Momoka Nishizawa. In the manga continuity, this occurred during an alien attack on Momoka’s birthday, prompting him to vow protection in exchange for her saving him. Their bond stems from shared psychological traits, including volatile mood swings manifesting as near-split personalities. Momoka affectionately calls him "Tama-chan" or "Tama-ko", while he addresses her as "Momo-chi".
His personality oscillates between cheerful gentleness and vengeful aggression—often triggered by jealousy over Keroro—accompanied by a balloon-pop sound. He harbors fierce rivalry toward Angol Mois, referring to her as "that woman" (あの女, *ano onna*) due to her closeness to Keroro, though she remains largely oblivious. Tamama typically ends speech with "desū" (ですぅ), a diminutive of "desu", though this ceases during aggressive episodes.
He exhibits distinct preferences for junk food, sweets like candy and cola, and maintains a training room in the Nishizawa Mansion. These habits led to a high-blood-sugar diagnosis. He dislikes nails on chalkboards and fears encountering his "lovely" self, as revealed by an alien entity, alongside sharing the platoon’s dread of Ketsubakuchiku (Butt Firecracker).
In combat, Tamama utilizes chi-based energy attacks. His signature technique is the *Tamama Impact*, a mouth-fired beam with enhanced variants: *Hyper Tamama Impact*, *Neo Tamama Impact* (manga-exclusive), and *Multiple Tamama Impact*. The *Jealousy Ball* harnesses ambient envy into an attack sphere, later adapted into the soccer-style *Jealousy Shot*. He combines techniques, like merging Tamama Impact with Jealousy Ball against Paul Moriyama, and employs others such as *Double Beam*, *Aichi Fist*, and *Okayama Punch*. As *Hyper Tamama*—empowered by a Super Rhinoceros Beetle—he gains flight and amplified energy projection; the anime limits this form, while manga grants consistent access. Offensive bodily functions include pressurized flatulence via cola or air ingestion.
Transformations include:
- *Captain Tamama*: Wears a purple command uniform during platoon leadership.
- *Pekoponian Suit Mk-II*: A human disguise enabling flight and multi-limb sprouting, destroyed by Angol Mois.
- *Shun*: An android idol persona remotely controlled via Kururu’s Invasion Substitute System.
- *Dragon Tamama*: A Chinese dragon-like form induced by Shion, retaining hat aesthetics and Tamama Impact.
- *Friend Tamama* (Tamama Girl Type): A female human form from Sandstar, adopting feminine voice/behavior without aggression.
- *Handsome Tamama*: A human male form via Kururu’s invention for popularity campaigns.
Tamama maintains complex relationships: he addresses Keroro as "Gunsou-san" with unwavering, often obsessive loyalty. His former apprentice Taruru initially called him "Master", shifted to "senpai", then reverted to "Master" after defeat. Paul Moriyama of the Nishizawa household treats him as family. He reluctantly cooperates with Angol Mois during shared objectives despite their rivalry.
