Description
Julius Rapha Holfort is a tall, handsome young man with dark blue hair cut to a medium length and matching blue eyes. A distinctive feature of his appearance is the presence of three small ahoges, or cowlicks, that stick up unpredictably from the top of his head.

As the former crown prince of the Holfort Kingdom, Julius was raised from birth to inherit the throne. This upbringing instilled in him a sense of pride, aloofness, and an antisocial demeanor, often leading him to keep others at a distance and speak in a blunt, harsh tone. Beneath this princely exterior, however, he is a straightforward young man who can be generous with those he considers close associates, though his naivety and inexperience frequently make him careless and shortsighted. His sheltered existence fostered a significant detachment from reality, particularly regarding finances. Julius had a tendency to view wealth as an inexhaustible birthright, leading to reckless spending and a profound lack of monetary sense.

Julius deeply resents the gilded constraints and heavy responsibilities of royalty, possessing a free and adventurous spirit that chafes against the life he was forced into. He became emotionally distant from his fiancée, Angelica Rapha Redgrave, seeing her as an emblem of the gilded life he yearned to flee and misreading her genuine loyalty as political ambition. His primary motivation early in the story is to escape these royal expectations. This desire crystallizes in his pursuit of Marie Fou Lafan, a girl who appears to understand his unvarnished, authentic self, leading him to publicly reject Angelica and his betrothal.

His role in the story is initially that of an antagonist to the protagonist, Leon Fou Bartfort. As the leader of the group known as the "Prince's Entourage," he becomes the primary obstacle in the academy arc. His pivotal moment comes during the End-of-Term Party duel, where he faces Leon as Marie's champion. Despite piloting high-tech armor, Julius suffers a humiliating defeat. Leon’s victory publicly exposes his irresponsible conduct and leads to Julius being stripped of his title as crown prince and disowned by his family for choosing Marie over his duties. This defeat is the catalyst for his character development.

Following his fall from grace, Julius is sent to study abroad in the Alzer Republic, an experience that serves as a harsh reality check. Near-bankruptcy and the necessity of manual labor strip away his illusions of wealth and status. During this period, he cultivates responsibility and empathy, learning the value of hard work through the simple act of earning a living. He finds unexpected fulfillment in humble work, such as running a food stall selling skewers. Although he officially becomes a subordinate to Leon during this time, the two develop an odd, begrudging friendship. Initially antagonistic, their relationship gradually improves as Julius discards his spoiled-child attitude, and Leon comes to recognize Julius's skills.

Despite his erratic and foolish behavior, Julius is a surprisingly talented individual with outstanding political and military acumen. His problem is not incompetence, but that his competent actions are often combined with an ego that ignores good advice, leading to grand-scale accidents. He is a capable fighter and adventurer, skilled in martial arts with a combat style that uses a sword and shield, acting as a defensive tank. A notable aspect of his character is his unconventional friendship with Leon. After his defeat, their relationship transforms from pure antagonism to a strange, somewhat respectful dynamic, with the formerly proud prince even aiming to defeat Leon in a rematch one day. Through these trials, Julius evolves from a pampered heir into a man who learns the weight of accountability and the quiet worth of ordinary joys.
