Description
Ruby Kurosawa, younger sister of Dia Kurosawa, belongs to Uchiura’s prominent Kurosawa family, managing fisheries alongside diverse ventures in real estate, entertainment, and restaurants. Traditional family values enforce strict oversight, initially limiting Ruby’s exposure to idol culture to NHK news broadcasts and compelling her to secretly watch music programs.

Extremely shy and timid, Ruby struggles in social settings beyond her inner circle. She exhibits androphobia, having never conversed with males besides her father before Aqours, though this trait softens later. Distress or surprise triggers her signature exclamation "Pigii!!!" accompanied by flushed cheeks. Despite her fearful demeanor, she harbors inner resilience forged through family duties. Her personal catchphrase "Ganbarubii!" blends "ganbaru" with her name for self-encouragement or motivating others, and she occasionally refers to herself in third person.

Ruby nurtured a lifelong passion for school idols, once secretly sharing it with Dia until Dia’s disillusionment following a failed group with Mari Ohara and Kanan Matsuura. Dia subsequently forbade idol activities, forcing Ruby to conceal her fandom. She idolizes μ's member Hanayo Koizumi for their shared shyness and pure-hearted nature. Ruby met Hanamaru Kunikida in a school library while reading idol magazines, sparking an instant, steadfast friendship. Hanamaru later urged Ruby to pursue idol dreams despite Dia’s objections.

Ruby joins Aqours in Season 1, Episode 4 as a trial member with Hanamaru’s support, inspired by Chika Takami’s formation of the group and their early performances. Her participation confronts Dia’s disapproval, ultimately reigniting Dia’s passion and leading her to join Aqours. Through this journey, Ruby gradually overcomes social anxiety, displaying growing confidence in performances and group dynamics. She fiercely protects Dia from criticism and reveals a playful streak by teasing Yoshiko Tsushima’s "Fallen Angel" persona alongside Hanamaru.

Key relationships evolve: her bond with Dia shifts from estrangement to mutual support within Aqours; her friendship with Hanamaru remains foundational, characterized by loyalty and shared growth. Ruby builds camaraderie with all members, notably collaborating with You Watanabe as costume coordinator due to her needlework and fashion hobbies, making her integral to wardrobe management. She participates in subunits CYaRon!, YYY, and AiScReam.

Physically, Ruby stands 153-154 cm tall with a slim build, semi-long red hair typically in twin-tails, and turquoise eyes. Her pink image color features prominently in idol attire. She favors French fries and sweet potatoes but detests wasabi and spicy foods, reacting intensely to tabasco-filled takoyaki. Daily routines include koto practice, outings with Hanamaru, and beach walks.

After Uranohoshi Girls' High School closes, Ruby transfers to Numazu High School as a second-year, continuing Aqours activities. Her commitment to the group’s future culminates in the movie *Over the Rainbow*.
