Description
Black Zarak is a towering Decepticon whose origins are rooted in destruction and rebirth. Originally, he was the fearsome Decepticon leader Scorponok, who was captured and utterly transformed by a powerful, malevolent entity known as Devil Z. Through this process, Scorponok’s body was rebuilt and his mind was enslaved, giving rise to the even more formidable Black Zarak, a being who served as Devil Z's primary enforcer on Earth.

In terms of personality, Black Zarak functions more as an instrument of terror than a traditional character. His individual will is almost entirely suppressed, with his actions dictated by the will of Devil Z. He speaks and acts with a cold, commanding brutality, showing no mercy or hesitation in his mission to sow chaos. He is not motivated by personal ambition or greed, but by the singular goal of his master: the eradication of humanity and the creation of a new order of super-powered lifeforms. This makes him a terrifyingly focused and relentless adversary, a walking engine of annihilation rather than a scheming tactician.

Within the narrative, Black Zarak is the ultimate field commander for the Decepticon forces on Earth, answering only to Devil Z himself. He leads alongside Overlord, another powerful agent of Devil Z, though Black Zarak’s raw power and connection to their master place him in a position of greater authority. His role is to execute Operation M1, a plan to paralyze Earth with fear by systematically destroying its major cities. He personally attacks New York, using his ability to generate black holes for teleportation and to devastating effect in combat. His primary antagonist is the Autobot leader God Ginrai, and their conflict forms the central physical and ideological battle of the series, pitting the destructive power of Devil Z against the indomitable spirit of humanity that Ginrai represents.

The character is notable for a distinct lack of development, as he is a static figure whose consciousness is gradually erased. As the series progresses, Devil Z’s control becomes more absolute, and Black Zarak speaks less like a former Decepticon commander and more as a direct mouthpiece for his master’s hatred. In his final confrontation with God Ginrai at the Matterhorn, Devil Z merges completely with Black Zarak’s body, turning him into a vessel for their combined power. When his head is severed in battle, his body grotesquely transforms into a new, two-headed serpent-like dragon mode, fighting on with even greater savagery before being utterly destroyed along with Devil Z.

Black Zarak possesses a terrifying array of abilities. His primary alternate mode is a colossal mechanical scorpion, which serves as a mobile fortress bristling with weapons. In robot mode, he wields the Tyrant Spear, a powerful trident-like weapon, and mounts twin shoulder cannons capable of unleashing devastating firepower. One of his most dangerous attacks is the Devil Thunder Ring, a vortex of dark energy that can strip a Transformer of their humanity and turn them into a mindless robotic slave. He can also generate artificial black holes, allowing him to teleport across vast distances and ensnare his enemies in inescapable gravitational fields. Even after his apparent demise, his legacy endures; he is later resurrected by the entity Violen Jiger to serve as the Evil Spirit General among the Nine Great Demon Generals. In this new role, his appearance is altered to include a hook hand and an eyepatch, giving him the demeanor of an undead pirate, and he uses his power to trap Autobot Micromasters in a cocoon of energy webbing.
