TV-Series
Description
Momoko Asuka, also called Momo-chan, is a character introduced in the third season of the series and continues as a main figure in the fourth season. She was originally born in Japan but moved to the United States as a young child due to her father's job, and as a result, she lost her ability to speak Japanese and became a native English speaker. Her birthday is May 6, her favorite color is yellow, and she plays the guitar. Momoko is initially presented as shy and uncertain when she first arrives in Japan, but she quickly reveals a bright, perky, and highly energetic personality. She is easily excited, very passionate, and enjoys helping others, though she can also be blunt and outspoken at times. She is known for being loud, hyperactive, and somewhat clumsy, which makes her a natural fit with the other main characters.

Her primary motivation stems from her past as a witch apprentice under the tutelage of a witch named Majo Monroe. When Majo Monroe fell ill and passed away, a heartbroken Momoko attempted to use forbidden magic to revive her. The attempt failed and caused Momoko to lose her own witch powers entirely. Because of this, the Witch Queen, Jou-sama, grants her a second chance by sending her to help Doremi and her friends run their sweet shop, Maho-do, and to prepare for the Patissiere Exams. Momoko deeply values this second opportunity and is determined to prove herself, while also carrying a sense of loss and a desire to honor her former mentor.

In the story, Momoko serves as the sixth member of the witch apprentice group. Her role is central to the group's new venture in baking and sweets, as she was already an experienced apprentice from America. She becomes a transfer student in Doremi's class. During the third season, she could only speak Japanese while transformed as a witch, but by the fourth season, her friends have taught her enough Japanese that she can speak it regularly, though she still occasionally inserts English words like "Wow!" into her conversations.

Her closest friendship is with Doremi, who helps her adjust and open up to others despite initial language barriers. The two share a similar energetic and expressive nature, leading to a strong bond. Momoko also grows close to Hazuki, Aiko, Onpu, and Pop, and she adapts to life in Japan largely because of their support. In later light novel continuations, Momoko continues her passion for baking by studying patisserie in high school, balancing her career focus with her friendships.

Her parents are a Japanese father and an American mother, with the family holding dual nationality. Her father is an architect and her mother is a photographer. Momoko's most prized possession is an earring given to her by Majo Monroe before she passed away, which holds deep sentimental value as a treasure. In terms of abilities, Momoko is a skilled witch apprentice with a natural talent for baking and sweets-making, which she uses to support the group's shop. She is smart and capable, but her clumsiness and loud enthusiasm often create comic situations. Her magical abilities are used in conjunction with her fairy partner, and she performs transformation and spellcasting as part of her apprentice duties. She does not have any romantic interests in the series.
