Description
Majorika, also known as Majo Rika or Rika Makihatayama in the human world, originated as a witch born from a rose in the Witch Queen's garden alongside her twin sister Majo Ruka; both were potential future queens. Raised by the kind witch Majo Ririka, whom she affectionately calls "Mama Ririka," she developed a fierce rivalry with Ruka, especially over ownership of the Maho-Dou magic shop in Misora City, Japan.

After winning the Maho-Dou, Majorika struggled to operate it successfully. Her life changed dramatically when the human girl Doremi Harukaze discovered her true witch identity, triggering an ancient curse that transformed her into a green witch frog featuring a single curled strand of hair, black button eyes, and a purple crystal ball around her neck. Her original witch form is that of an elderly woman with gentle red eyes, wrinkles, dark green hair styled in oval buns, and a dark green one-piece outfit with a shawl and gold loop earrings.

To break the curse, Majorika mentored Doremi and her friends as witch apprentices, hoping they would become full witches capable of restoring her. Initially portrayed as stingy, grumpy, and greed-driven, she frequently clashed with the girls, particularly insulting Doremi. Her choleric temperament and profit focus led to impulsive business schemes. Despite this, she gradually softened, developing genuine care for the apprentices and eventually admitting she viewed them as surrogate daughters.

Her magical abilities include infusing power into objects using strands of her hair, a skill she retains even in her frog form. Her fairy companion, Lala, often teases her but remains a close confidante. Majorika's relationship with Ruka evolved from bitter rivalry to reconciliation, with the twins becoming drinking buddies later in the series.

During the apprentices' journey, Majorika served as a secondary caregiver to Hana, the future Witch Queen candidate. However, in the spin-off "Ojamajo Doremi 16," Hana temporarily left Majorika's custody upon learning Ruka's whereabouts, leading Ruka to take over her care. Majorika's later years involved running the Maho-Dou in various forms—a gardening store, bakery, and crafts shop—while supporting the apprentices through their final decision to relinquish witchcraft for human lives.
