Description
Delta is a robot character who appears in the 2003 version of the Astro Boy anime, as well as in the Akira Himekawa manga series. His primary role is as the leader of Metro City's Anti-Robot Robot Squad, which is a special division within the Metro City Police Department created to combat crime committed by robots. He makes his first appearance in the episode titled Robot Hunters.

In terms of physical appearance, Delta is a bipedal humanoid robot with a tall and powerfully built frame that resembles a strongman-style utility robot. His body is covered in armor that functions as his standard uniform, consisting of a blue jacket with wide shoulder pads, a white bodysuit, navy blue boots, and a grey utility belt with metal detailing. His face is angular and constructed from grey metals, and his eyes are yellow signal lights that can illuminate as needed or perform scanning and analytical functions.

Delta possesses a personality that is defined by a serious and stern demeanor. He is programmed to follow the law at all times, which makes him a rigid and principled officer. He takes great pride in his position as the leader of the Anti-Robot Robot Squad and holds a strong belief that only his team is qualified to handle robot-related crimes. This pride and dedication to police protocol initially lead him to reject offers of assistance from others, including Astro Boy, whose help he immediately dismisses during their first encounter. Despite his stubborn and by-the-book nature, Delta is also a passionate and compassionate individual. He is not without a softer side, and on occasion, he can show unexpected emotional vulnerability.

Regarding his key relationships, Delta works regularly alongside Inspector Tawashi of the Metro City Police. He considers the inspector a colleague and ally, though he dislikes when Tawashi makes derogatory comments about robots. His relationship with Astro Boy begins with tension due to Delta's refusal to accept outside help, but he ultimately becomes an ally to Astro. Delta also appears in the story arc adapting The Greatest Robot on Earth, where he confronts the powerful robot Pluto. In this narrative, Pluto announces his intention to defeat the world's strongest robots, naming Delta as one of his targets. Delta faces Pluto in an abandoned warehouse but is defeated, adding to the villain's list of victories.

As the captain of the Anti-Robot Robot Squad, Delta has access to a range of notable abilities. He possesses super strength and the capability of flight. He is programmed with advanced ground survival tactics and can use stealth and camouflaging modes to hide his presence. In his law enforcement role, he also has access to laser artillery and other specialized police weaponry.
