Description
Nakahito Kagura is the central human character in the live-action drama Steel Angel Kurumi Pure, a 2002 series set in the 21st century. In this continuity, rapid advances in robot technology have led to the creation of caregiving robots called kangoroids, with the Ayanokouji Corporation leading their development. Nakahito is a junior high school student and the nephew of the president of Ayanokouji Corporation. At the start of the story, he has become withdrawn after a particular incident and refuses to leave his room, isolating himself from the outside world.
His role in the story begins when he receives a package in the mail containing the first prototype of a new home-use kangoroid, code‑named Steel Angel and named Kurumi. He is chosen as the monitor for this prototype. Initially, Nakahito is embarrassed and awkward around Kurumi, uncertain how to handle her presence. Over time, her unwavering devotion and persistence gradually break through his shell, leading him to accept her and begin interacting with the world again.
Nakahito’s personality is defined by his initial seclusion, shyness, and vulnerability. He does not actively seek adventure or confrontation; instead, the story forces him to adapt to a new and unusual companion. His motivations centre on adjusting to life with Kurumi and overcoming his own emotional barriers. The key relationship is with Kurumi herself, which evolves from discomfort to a bond of trust and reliance. The drama does not grant Nakahito any supernatural abilities or combat skills; he is an ordinary boy whose significance lies in his connection with the android Kurumi and his personal growth from reclusiveness to openness.
