Description
Kisa Sôma belongs to the Sohma family, bearing the Chinese Zodiac Tiger's curse. This transforms her into a small golden tiger when hugged by the opposite sex, under intense stress, or during physical weakness. Her curse manifests as naturally golden hair and amber eyes, which attract bullying. She stands 144.5 cm (4'9") with a petite, slender frame, typically dressed in her middle school uniform: a lilac sailor-style top with a lemon-yellow ribbon, pleated lilac skirt, thigh-high white socks, and brown loafers. Outside school, she favors feminine dresses and skirts, occasionally accessorizing with ribbons borrowed from Tohru Honda.

Kisa shared a close elementary-school bond with Hiro Sohma, the Zodiac Sheep, until Hiro confessed his feelings for her to family head Akito Sohma. Akito violently assaulted Kisa, hospitalizing her for two weeks. Confused and traumatized by Akito's cruelty, Kisa withdrew, while guilt-ridden Hiro distanced himself to shield her from further harm.

Entering middle school, Kisa endured severe bullying over her golden hair and eyes, deemed unnatural by peers. Classmates mocked everything she said, laughing whenever she spoke. Isolated and ashamed, she hid the bullying from her mother to avoid burdening her, developing self-imposed muteness as a psychological defense—mentally "sealing" her words. The silence strained her maternal relationship, culminating in Kisa running away.

Hatsuharu Sohma found Kisa in tiger form and brought her to Shigure Sohma's residence. There, Tohru Honda mistook her for a kitten and tried to pet her, prompting Kisa to bite defensively. After Hatsuharu revealed the bullying as the cause, Kisa bit him and fled. Tohru pursued, enduring another bite while persisting to reach out. When Kisa's frustrated mother arrived, Tohru intervened, sharing her own bullying history and explaining Kisa's fear of worrying her. This prompted Kisa to revert to human form and embrace Tohru, initiating her emotional recovery.

Kisa stayed temporarily at Shigure's home, shadowing Tohru constantly. Though initially mute, she began opening up after overhearing Yuki Sohma and Hatsuharu discuss self-acceptance. Yuki argued that external acceptance is necessary to love oneself, crediting Tohru's influence. Kisa voiced agreement—her first words in months—and tearfully reunited with Tohru. This breakthrough strengthened her resolve to return to school and face her bullies.

Reconnecting with Hiro proved difficult. When they met, Kisa demanded to know why he abandoned her during the bullying. Hiro struggled to articulate his guilt over the Akito incident but implied his distance was protective. Recognizing his concern, Kisa forgave him. Their friendship gradually mended, though Hiro remained jealous of Kisa's admiration for Tohru. During a park outing, Hiro confided to Tohru about his helplessness during Kisa's ordeal, vowing to become her protector. Kisa later noted he seemed happier.

Kisa continued battling shyness but showed incremental growth, such as mustering courage to greet Kyo Sohma directly—a personal triumph. At the Sohma beach house, she defended Tohru when Hiro mocked Tohru's attachment to her late mother. Kisa's outburst surprised Hiro, causing temporary friction, though she later regretted overreacting. By the series' conclusion, she and Hiro are depicted arm-in-arm, implying a romantic relationship.
