Description
Benten, a fiery member of the Fukujin alien clan, draws her name from the serene goddess Benzaiten yet embodies a rebellious, combative spirit. Raised alongside Lum, Ran, and Oyuki, her mischievous streak often entangled the group in youthful chaos, with Ran frequently weathering the fallout. Each spring equinox, her clan clashes with Lum’s Oni in a ritualized battle, a tradition Benten exploited by stoking Ataru Moroboshi’s fleeting crush to unsettle Lum and claim victory.

Her striking visage sports red spiked hair and a metallic crimson bikini paired with armored boots and bracers. A weighty chain slung over her shoulder acts as both accessory and UFO key, its theft by the Three Girls Gang once stranding her until its retrieval. Occasional silver embellishments or sun-kissed skin mark temporary shifts in her look across adventures.

Benten’s dynamic with Ryūnosuke Fujinami began with comedic gender confusion, morphing into rivalry as they sparred over femininity in a school-judged contest that forged mutual respect. Their bond deepened as she aided Ryūnosuke in confronting family pressures and reclaiming a stolen bike, though their camaraderie still sparks playful jabs about unresolved romantic tension.

Notable escapades include foiling Ataru’s sentō bathhouse schemes, joining a kitten-rescue bike heist chased by vengeful bikers, and escaping to Neptune with her friends to marvel at crystalline Sherbet birds. Though absent from *Lum the Forever*’s main plot, her presence lingers in its credits.

Relaxed yet volatile, Benten veers from carefree lounging to explosive outbursts, though hints of vulnerability surface—like blushing at Ryūnosuke’s teasing. Drawn to Earth’s charm, she drops by Lum’s home beyond their annual clashes, her independence mirrored in the red airbike she maintains with skilled hands, a testament to her mechanical grit.
