Description
Mizuki Nakahara is a 27-year-old woman who works as a staff member at Café LycoReco. She has long brown hair and wears distinctive red-framed glasses. Formerly an intelligence officer in the Direct Attack organization, she left the agency largely because she grew uncomfortable with its practices and sought a change in her life. Her primary motivation is a strong desire to get married, and she took the café job specifically in hopes of meeting a suitable partner. Her nightly routine involves drinking alcohol while browsing wedding magazines, and she often laments the lack of eligible men who visit the café.

Personality-wise, Mizuki is outspoken and sometimes cynical, frequently complaining about her romantic situation, but she also demonstrates loyalty, quick thinking, and a willingness to put herself in harm’s way for her colleagues. She is a heavy drinker and can be seen as a “pitiful beautiful woman” character, often providing comic relief through her romantic frustrations and candid remarks. Despite these traits, she is competent and resourceful, drawing on her intelligence background to support the LycoReco team.

Her role in the story is that of a behind-the-scenes supporter. She handles tasks such as driving teammates to mission locations, conducting surveillance and suspect tracking, and analyzing intelligence. In a notable early mission, she posed as the hacker Walnut, wearing a heavy bulletproof costume that allowed her to survive multiple gunshots, thereby enabling a deception that fooled enemies and even moved her friends to tears. This act shows her bravery and dedication to the team’s objectives.

Mizuki’s key relationships include a long friendship with Chisato Nishikigi, with whom she shares a familiar, teasing dynamic. She also works alongside the café manager Mika, the hacker Kurumi, and Takina Inoue after her transfer. Within the group, Mizuki often serves as a relatable, down-to-earth contrast to the younger, more extraordinary agents. Her development over the series is subtle but notable: she gradually finds a sense of belonging and purpose within the LycoReco group, even as she continues her personal quest for romance. In the short film series Friends are thieves of time, her everyday interactions and humorous struggles are further explored.

While Mizuki is not a frontline combatant, her abilities include intelligence analysis, infiltration support, driving, and the use of disguise. She lacks the advanced combat skills of the Lycoris agents but compensates with experience, resourcefulness, and a dependable presence behind the scenes.
