Description
Hina Hikawa, featured in the BanG Dream! franchise and its Pastel Life spin-off, is the younger twin sister of Sayo Hikawa. Their names symbolically represent sun/day (Hina) and night (Sayo), mirroring their contrasting personalities. Initially attending Haneoka Girls' High School as student council president, she later enrolled as a first-year at Keiho Women's University's Faculty of Human Sciences. She joined the band Pastel*Palettes as guitarist after passing an audition. While initially claiming band participation was merely to "kill time," Hina gradually developed genuine investment through interactions, particularly influenced by Aya Maruyama.
A natural genius with impeccable memory, Hina masters new skills rapidly, often after a single attempt. This leads to quick boredom and a constant search for novel or "boppin'" experiences. Her cheerful, carefree demeanor pairs with difficulty understanding others' emotions, resulting in unintentional bluntness. She frequently uses unique ideophones like "boppin'" and "zappin'" to describe sensations. Exhibiting candid honesty and self-assurance, she enjoys teasing friends (especially Aya) and displays mischievousness. Her hobbies encompass making aroma oils, reading occult magazines like "Supernatural Encounters," and playing volleyball. She developed interests in extraterrestrial beings and cryptids following "The Mole Person☆Transport Mission!" event. She dislikes flavorless foods like tofu skins but enjoys gum, candy, and junk food.
Hina embraces her twin identity, unlike Sayo's initial rejection. She actively seeks shared activities with Sayo, which historically caused conflict as Sayo perceived Hina as copying and excelling at her hobbies, fueling an inferiority complex. Despite frequent arguments due to clashing personalities, Hina remains supportive and affectionate. Their relationship evolves toward mutual understanding and reconciliation, with Sayo becoming kinder. Hina secretly attends Roselia's performances to watch Sayo, using disguises when instructed not to attend. In Pastel Life, she lands an acting role as a little sister character, drawing from her real-life dynamic with Sayo for the role; however, her candid anecdotes during rehearsals prove tangentially relevant rather than directly instructive.
Additional traits include fluency in English, poor map-symbol comprehension, and being the sole member of her school's Astronomy Club—dubbed "The Weirdos Club" by peers. Her appearance features sharp green eyes, light teal wavy hair styled with right-brushed bangs and twin braids secured by yellow bows, cut shoulder-length. Her casual attire leans tomboyish with pants/shorts and a gingham jacket worn on or around her waist, contrasting with Pastel*Palettes' frilly performance outfits.
