After seeking help from the police and being turned away, she successfully contacts the City Hunter by posting "XYZ" on a hidden bulletin board, leading to her protection by Ryo and Kaori. Throughout the story, Ai Shindo is a key figure around whom the plot revolves, necessitating protection due to the threats against her. Her interactions with Ryo Saeba include moments where his typical lecherous behavior is directed toward her, resulting in Kaori's intervention with her signature hammer.
