Description
Kappa, also called Kappa'ou Sagojou, serves as a protagonist yo-kai in the animated film *Yo-kai Watch: Forever Friends*, set in 1960s Tokyo. A member of the Uwanosora tribe, he acts as a guardian for Shin, a human enduring profound loss. His Lightside form merges traditional kappa elements with modern flair, featuring green, scaly skin, a head plate, and a turtle shell, yet distinctly dressed in salaryman attire like a blue-striped tie and briefcase, signifying his adaptation to human society.

This character transforms across different media. In *Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble*, his Godside form, Kappa'ou Sagojou, emerges as a Rank SS yo-kai of the Tough tribe. This evolved state displays amplified aquatic powers, adorned in light blue armor with scale patterns and wielding a monk's spade. His Soultimate Move, "Kappa Shock Wave," erases enemy units in a vertical line during gameplay, showcasing his water mastery. The name "Sagojou" originates from Sha Wujing (沙悟浄) of *Journey to the West*, aligning with Japanese folklore depictions of Sha Wujing as a kappa.

In *Forever Friends*, Kappa's story highlights his loyalty to Shin and allies like the nekomata Suu-san. He battles antagonists such as Shien, who seeks the yo-kai throne, and Tamamo, a soul-stealing fox spirit. Beyond combat, his salaryman persona emphasizes dedication to familial responsibility, consistent with yo-kai biographies stating he "works hard for the sake of his family," illustrating his integration into both yo-kai and human worlds.

Kappa also appears in *Yo-kai Watch 4*, where players automatically befriend him in Chapter 4. His Kappa'ou Sagojou transformation becomes unlockable via "Treasure Photo 18," enabling equipment-based activation of this enhanced form for battles within Ark doors, rifts, and tournaments.
