Description
Kiuru is the prince of En'nakamui, a nation dependent on the larger empire of Yamato, and holds the position of sworn brother to the influential Oshutoru. Physically, he presents as a young man with a small build compared to his male peers, characterized by blond hair, green eyes, and brown animal ears and a tail that feature darker tips. His typical attire includes a choker and fingerless gloves, and his primary weapon in combat is a bow.
In terms of personality, Kiuru is defined by a kind, gentle, and deeply caring nature, often worrying about the well-being of others. Despite his royal lineage, he does not carry himself with a sense of entitlement; rather, he is easily flustered, a trait most pronounced in the presence of the young female strategist Nekone, for whom he holds a significant crush. This unrequited affection is widely recognized by other members of the group, though Nekone herself remains unaware of its depth and often finds Kiuru troublesome or annoying rather than hating him. Kiuru also possesses a notable complex regarding his small stature and youthful appearance, a characteristic that becomes a recurring source of gentle teasing from his comrades.
Kiurus motivations are heavily rooted in loyalty and service. His profound respect for Oshutoru, to the point of becoming his sworn brother, is a primary driving force behind his actions. He is initially introduced when Oshutoru orders him to serve as a bodyguard for the boisterous Atui in the capital, a directive that leads to a comical misunderstanding with the protagonist Haku. Following this incident, Kiuru is placed under Hakus care to assist with various odd jobs, a role that forms the core of his function within the storys central group.
His key relationships evolve significantly over time. His bond with Oshutoru is one of deep admiration, so much so that the revelation that the easygoing Ukon is actually Oshutoru in disguise nearly causes Kiuru to faint. His partnership with Haku is central to his development; initially just paired together for tasks, Kiuru gradually grows to respect Hakus quick thinking and decisive nature. Haku, in turn, frequently teases Kiuru about his feelings for Nekone and his short stature.
While Kiuru does not undergo a dramatic transformation, his development is seen in his growing respect for Haku and his gradual integration into the close-knit community at the inn, Hakurokaku. In terms of abilities, his notable skill lies in archery, using a bow as his main weapon in combat situations.
