Description
Fujiwara no Yasusuke, born into the aristocratic Fujiwara clan during Japan's Heian period, rejected noble sensibilities. He served as a deputy in the Heian-kyō police force, mastering the katana and bow. After his fiancée's death and disillusioned by the aristocracy's neglect of commoners, he abandoned his title and name, becoming the thief leader Hakamadare. Under this alias, he targeted the wealthy elite with open disdain for the nobility, adopting a brash and aggressive personality starkly different from his former honorable self.

His exploits as Hakamadare drew the attention of Tokitada, a distant relative who had also rejected aristocratic life. Tokitada and the Madōgu Goruba recruited Yasusuke, training him as a Makai Knight in the use of Soul Metal. Yasusuke overcame initial reluctance, embraced this path, and inherited the title of Zanga the White Lotus Knight. He received silver armor and a Makai Blade that transforms between a dormant katana and an active scimitar. Goruba serves as his primary Madōgu. The Zanga armor grants enhanced abilities like energy manipulation, glyph creation for aerial platforms, and purifying fire manipulation via the Madou flame sphere, though its use consumes significant energy.

As Zanga, Yasusuke battles Horrors, malevolent spirits preying on humans. His capabilities include purifying these entities, resisting soul manipulation, and combat prowess enabling him to overpower formidable opponents like the Golden Knight Garo when augmented by the Hadou flame. He operates with extended melee range using his blade and projects powers across tens of meters, integrating his earlier police and archery training into versatile combat skills.

During the conflict against the apocalyptic Horror Rudra, Yasusuke played a critical role alongside allies Raikou (the Golden Knight Garo) and Seimei. He intervened decisively in battles, including a pivotal confrontation against Rudra after it possessed Seimei, contributing significantly to efforts preventing Rudra's destruction of the capital.

In the events of "The Fleeting Cherry Blossom," Yasusuke continued his duties as a Makai Knight. He joined forces with Raikou, Kintoki, and Seimei to combat a Horror linked to an ancient cherry blossom tree, manipulated by Tokimaru and Akira in their plot for vengeance against Emperor Michinaga. Their intervention thwarted both the Horror's rampage and the siblings' revenge scheme. Subsequently, Michinaga faced arrest for endangering the capital's populace through callous disregard for their safety.
