Description
"Usuzumizakura -Garo-" is a 2018 anime series set in the "Garo" universe, a franchise known for its dark fantasy and horror themes. The story unfolds in a fictional medieval world where humans are plagued by demonic entities known as Horrors, which are born from human darkness and corruption. The Makai Order, a secret organization of warriors, is tasked with protecting humanity by hunting these Horrors. The series centers on Raiga Saejima, the son of the legendary Makai Knight Kouga Saejima, who inherits the title of the Golden Knight Garo.

Raiga, now a seasoned Makai Knight, is summoned to the capital of the Eastern Makai Order to investigate a series of mysterious deaths linked to Horrors. The capital is under the rule of a powerful and enigmatic figure named Kintoki, who has established a strict hierarchy and enforces oppressive laws. Raiga discovers that the Horrors in the capital are being manipulated by a sinister force tied to Kintoki's regime. As he delves deeper, he uncovers a conspiracy involving the misuse of Makai Alchemy, a forbidden practice that distorts the balance between humans and Horrors.

The narrative explores themes of justice, legacy, and the struggle against tyranny. Raiga is joined by a diverse cast of characters, including Rian, a Makai Priestess who aids him in his mission, and Mayuri, a young girl with a mysterious connection to the Horrors. The series also introduces rival Makai Knights and alchemists, each with their own motivations and conflicts. As Raiga battles both external threats and internal doubts, he must confront the legacy of his father and the weight of his responsibilities as the Golden Knight.

The plot is driven by a mix of action, mystery, and political intrigue, with a focus on the moral complexities of fighting evil in a world where the line between good and evil is often blurred. The series builds toward a climactic confrontation that challenges Raiga's resolve and tests the limits of his power as Garo. Through its exploration of the Makai Order's internal struggles and the broader societal issues within the capital, "Usuzumizakura -Garo-" offers a compelling addition to the "Garo" franchise, blending supernatural elements with a grounded, character-driven narrative.
