Description
Karen Kohiruimaki, known as LLENN, is a university student from Hokkaido attending a prestigious all-female university in Tokyo. Born April 20, 2006, she stands 183 centimeters tall in reality, a height that led to teasing and a significant complex, making her introverted with limited social interactions outside her family and close friend Shinohara Miyu. She wears simple, unfashionable clothing and has long black hair, later cut to neck length. She enjoys listening to music by Kanzaki Elsa.
In August 2025, an article about VR games sparked her interest in experiencing an alternative self. Guided by Miyu, she tried ALfheim Online but experienced distress upon seeing her tall Sylph avatar, causing the AmuSphere to log her out due to an abnormal heart rate. Miyu advised using The Seed's conversion feature. After testing games, Karen chose Gun Gale Online (GGO) because it offered an avatar under 150 centimeters tall – a "chibi" appearance with a slender build, slightly rounded face, large pupils, and short dark-tawny hair. This avatar provided comfort and empowerment.
Within GGO, LLENN adopted all-pink attire, dyeing her combat uniform, knit cap, equipment, and her signature FN P90 submachine gun a dusky pink, earning her the nickname "Pink Devil" (Pinku no Akuma). Her small avatar granted high agility and a minimal hitbox for tactical advantages. Initially logging in solely to enjoy her avatar's stature, after three months she engaged more seriously: completing tutorials, hunting monsters, and saving credits for weapons like a standard submachine gun and two Škorpion vz. 61s. Her playstyle changed after ambushing three players using environmental camouflage, leading to a period actively targeting others. Guilt over provoking a "subjugation party" against her caused a return to monster hunting.
Her trajectory shifted upon meeting the player Pitohui, who became her mentor and friend. Pitohui recommended the P90, nicknamed "P-chan" by LLENN, and they formed a two-person squadron. On January 18, 2026, Pitohui informed LLENN about the upcoming Squad Jam tournament, urging her to participate with a teammate named M. After a real-world consultation, Karen used Kanzaki Elsa concert tickets as a tiebreaker; Miyu's failure to secure tickets led Karen to commit. Pitohui designated LLENN as team leader, pairing her with M for tactical support.
Post-tournament, on February 3, 2026, Karen encountered rival team SHINC in real life, discovering they were rhythmic gymnasts from a high school affiliated with her university. Despite initial reservations, she invited them to her apartment to watch a Squad Jam recording. SHINC praised her ingenuity, like using a suitcase for ambushes, and emphasized her skills stemmed from her own abilities, not just her avatar. This interaction marked a turning point, helping Karen gradually overcome her social anxieties and height-related insecurities.
Beyond the main storyline, LLENN appears in non-canonical entries like the game Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet. In the "Dissonance of the Nexus" expansion, she assists protagonists during events such as Lievre's assault on SBC Glocken and a Winter Frontier expedition, defending allies against monsters attracted by an AI idol's singing, showcasing her continued reliance on teamwork.
Her equipment evolved throughout her GGO involvement. Starting with standard-issue laser rifles and submachine guns, she later acquired the P90 as her primary weapon and added a knife for close-quarters combat after recognizing its practicality during Squad Jam. She consistently maintained her pink aesthetic, functioning as both camouflage and a psychological tactic.
