Daru joined the Future Gadget Lab partly due to its proximity to MayQueen+Nyan², where Mayuri Shiina worked. His hacking skills enabled him to infiltrate secure systems like SERN's databases, exposing their human time travel experiments. Within the Alpha Attractor Field, Daru helped Okabe understand the PhoneWave. He discovered his future role as Suzuha Amane's father after her arrival from the future, reacting with perverted comments and emotional awkwardness. A subsequent D-Mail erased this memory and his paternal connection. During Steins;Gate 0 events in the Beta Attractor Field, Daru collaborated with neuroscientist Maho Hiyajo to develop a new Time Leap Machine. He hacked the Amadeus AI system to retrieve data. Maho anonymously contracted him to access Kurisu Makise's laptop, leading to a confrontation with armed assailants. In one outcome, he guided Okabe and Maho through a secret exit during a siege; in another, the laptop was destroyed in the firefight. Daru recommended Moeka Kiryu to help locate Kagari Shiina and facilitated Suzuha's efforts to reunite with her. His relationship with Yuki Amane, Suzuha's mother, developed through Suzuha's interventions to ensure her own existence. He eventually married Yuki.
