She possesses shoulder-length green hair, green eyes, and measurements of 85-58-83 cm, dressing in stylish professional attire modified to be less revealing in the remake.

Beyond journalism, Kaori secretly works as an industrial spy hired by Kouzou Ryuuzouji. She investigates the lightning phenomena at Sakaimachi beach, believing it connects to Geo Technics, managed by Ayumi Arima. Her mission is to steal the "Power Stone" formula and a crystal sample from the company. She collaborates with Geo Technics employee Hideo Toyotomi, who seeks to betray the company, but plans to abandon him after securing the materials, secretly filming his scheming for leverage. Kaori employs charm, manipulation, and calculated persuasion to gain trust and access sensitive information, calling herself a "professional" in covert activities without admitting espionage.

Kaori once shared a close, briefly intimate relationship with Kodai Arima, Takuya Arima's father. She later interacts with Takuya, occasionally comparing father and son. As part of her mission, she deliberately approaches and manipulates Takuya to help her acquire a keycard to Geo Technics' Power Stone lab. Her relationship with Hideo Toyotomi is purely transactional.

In the anime adaptation, Kaori poses as a student from another school wearing a borrowed Sakaimachi Academy uniform. She also works as a leader among employees at a date club and is a part-time job colleague of Kanna Hatano.

Her storyline culminates when Takuya Arima, possessing knowledge from parallel worlds, confronts her during the Power Stone theft.
