Description
Originating as the spirit of the Gold Dragon, one of the Shinbu Dragon Gods from Shinbukai, Ryūjinmaru's essence merges with a clay sculpture crafted by the human child Wataru Ikusabe. This fusion grants him sentience as a combat mecha and a dual existence: his primary robotic form features a blue and white body, a crown-like headpiece, and a red jewel cockpit revealing his true mythological manifestation as a golden-scaled Chinese dragon within a cosmic interior.

His personality remains consistently candid and strategic, serving as Wataru's battlefield advisor. He emphasizes wisdom and courage during confrontations, guiding tactical decisions without emotional embellishment.

Ryūjinmaru's combat centers on dragon-themed techniques. Core attacks include the Dragon Fang Fist (Ryugaken), Flame Dragon Fist (Enryuken), and Dragon Thunder Fist (Ryuuraiken). His signature finishing move, the Soaring Dragon Sword (Toryuken), manifests elemental variants like the Frigid Dragon Sword (Gokukan Toryuken) for ice assaults and the Blazing Dragon Sword (Kaen Toryuken) for fire strikes. The Blazing Dragon Sword exacts a severe toll, draining the user's life force and causing Ryūjinmaru's temporary death after its sole use in Episode 20. He resurrects in Episode 22.

Spin-offs and alternate continuities diversify his abilities. The *Another Step* game introduces techniques such as the Phantom Dragon Wave (Gen'ei Shoryuha) and combination attacks like the Rising Explosion Calibur (Shōryū Rekka Bakuretsu Seiken) with allies Genjinmaru and Kenjinmaru. The 2025 reboot *Mashin Creator Wataru* reimagines him as a block-constructed mecha piloted by Wataru Hoshibe against the antagonist Enjoda, maintaining his core identity as a guardian.

A pivotal evolution occurs in *The Seven Spirits of Ryūjinmaru* (2020), where he fragments into seven distinct souls scattered across dimensions. This arc explores his resilience through reassembly and resurrection, reinforcing his role as an enduring protector across timelines. His narrative repeatedly involves cycles of sacrifice, destruction, and renewal, exemplified by his temporary demise in the original series and subsequent rebirths.
