Description
Garrus is a dwarven blacksmith, considered the closest in Granzell to earning the title of Godsmith. Though 82 years of age, he carries himself with the vigor of a man decades younger, standing short with the slightly pointed ears of his kin, a hefty mustache flowing into his hair, and a red bandana often tied about his head.
He approaches his craft with deep passion and dedication, yet remains selective in his clientele. His manner is casual and respectful, marked by a dialect rich with words like “Ya” and “Aye.” Clever and good-natured, he recovers quickly from surprises. His work is driven not by profit but by honor, exemplified in creations like the Black Cat armor set for Fran, which the Gods later bestowed with a Name. This generosity earned him powerful allies, including adventurers and the Thieves' Guild, who eventually aided his escape from Granzell after a catastrophe in the capital.
Garrus possesses the Extra Skill God’s Eye, also called Godsight, enabling him to see through identity concealments and appraise a weapon’s true status, including traits like Mana Conductivity. This ability revealed Teacher’s nature as an Intelligent Weapon at first glance.
A master of his trade, his skills include max-level Blacksmithing, Smithing Magic, Fire Magic, Appraisal, and numerous resistance and crafting specialties. His renown protects him; though he cannot refuse commissions from high nobles or royalty, his position shields him from their wrath.
He first met Fran and Teacher in Alessa, inviting her to his shop after observing her at the Adventurers' Guild. There, he disclosed his awareness of Teacher’s sentience and demonstrated Mana Conductivity by having Fran shatter a superior sword, explaining how Teacher’s A-rank conductivity allowed 200% mana efficiency. He shared knowledge of Godsmiths and Divine Swords, noting that while powerful, Teacher was not a Divine Sword like Ignis, the only one he had ever seen. Honored by the opportunity, he crafted a custom sheath for Teacher from provided materials free of charge and began work on armor for Fran.
When disaster struck the capital, Garrus was forced to flee Granzell. The network of allies he had built through years of selfless craftsmanship rallied to ensure his escape.
