Movie
Description
Meiko Mochizuki moves from Tottori Prefecture to Tokyo, transferring into Yagami Taichi's high school class. She has fair skin, long black hair with straight bangs, and pink eyes, consistently wearing red rectangular-framed glasses after her initial pair breaks. Her name combines the kanji for "sprout" (芽) and "heart" (心), while her surname means "full moon" (望月).
As a child in Tottori, Meiko discovered her partner Meicoomon in the woods after hearing a Digivice, forming an immediate bond. Her father, a Digimon researcher, conducted tests on Meicoomon but accidentally triggered a feral state, which Meiko calmed. This established her role in managing Meicoomon's unstable power, stemming from a shard of Apocalymon's data. Meiko exhibits extreme shyness, social awkwardness, and frequent apologizing, often sneezing or blushing when embarrassed. She has low self-confidence, takes undue responsibility for events beyond her control, and initially struggles to accept inclusion in the group due to her secluded upbringing.
Upon moving to Tokyo, Meicoomon becomes separated, leading Meiko to search for her. This draws Alphamon's attention, resulting in the original DigiDestined defending them. After this encounter, Meiko reveals herself as a DigiDestined and integrates into the group. Her bond with Meicoomon is intensely close; the Digimon calls her "Mei" and depends on her for emotional stability. Prolonged separation causes Meicoomon extreme distress, leading to destructive rampages. Meiko initially functions as a non-action character, often requiring rescue during conflicts, but gradually develops resilience. She demonstrates survival skills in the Digital World and advocates for difficult decisions, including euthanizing Meicoomon to end her suffering when infected by a reality-distorting virus.
Meiko's character arc intensifies as Meicoomon's infections escalate. In *Confession*, Meicoomon kills Leomon, triggering a Digital World reboot. Though Meicoomon temporarily loses her memories post-reboot, Meiko's Digivice preserves their shared experiences. Later, Meicoomon's fear and pain drive transformations into Meicrackmon: Vicious Mode and Raguelmon, culminating in a fusion with Ophanimon Falldown Mode to form Ordinemon. Meiko pleads with the DigiDestined to stop Ordinemon, even at the cost of Meicoomon's life. During the final battle, she unlocks Meicoomon's sealed positive memories using their shared password "dandan" (a term from her regional dialect), briefly stabilizing Ordinemon. Meicoomon is ultimately killed in the Real World to prevent global destruction, with no possibility of rebirth.
Following these events, Meiko moves back to Tottori but maintains contact with the other DigiDestined. In *Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna*, she reappears as one of many DigiDestined captured by Eosmon and imprisoned in the Never World to relive memories with Meicoomon. After Eosmon's defeat, she regains consciousness in the Real World. The video game *Digimon World: Next Order* references her: kidnapped by the organization "White Fang," who attempt to weaponize Meicoomon. Meiko intentionally enters a trap meant for Meicoomon to protect her, leading to Meicoomon's vicious evolution and amnesia. After Meicoomon recovers, she returns to their world, defeats White Fang, and frees Meiko.
Key traits include her strong bond with Meicoomon, regional dialect (represented as a Southern accent in English dubs), and artistic skills. She evolves from a passive figure to one capable of advocating for painful sacrifices, though her core gentleness persists.
