Description
Originally named Hanayo Unjoh, Hanayo first appeared as a human participant in the initial Selector Battles. Her background involved significant family neglect, driving her wish to find someone who would truly love her. This desire motivated her participation as a Selector paired with the LRIG Paltea. She specifically targeted the Novice Hunting Group after they manipulated her childhood friend Kana, corrupting Kana's wish. Hanayo succeeded in defeating the group's leader, Shizuka Yajima, achieving her objective for revenge.
After accumulating sufficient victories, Hanayo invoked the Eternal Girl pact, transforming into an LRIG. She subsequently became paired with Yuzuki Kurebayashi, residing in a Red Ambition deck purchased by Yuzuki's brother, Kazuki. Hanayo supported Yuzuki's wish to become Kazuki's girlfriend, guiding her through battles while maintaining a typically calm and reserved demeanor, contrasting with Yuzuki's more emotionally expressive nature.
Following Yuzuki's accumulation of wins, Hanayo initiated the Eternal Girl ritual. This led to Hanayo taking over Yuzuki's body to fulfill the wish, trapping Yuzuki's consciousness as an LRIG. Hanayo then acted as Yuzuki, confessing romantic feelings to Kazuki and entering a relationship with him. Over time, Hanayo developed genuine affection for Kazuki, resulting in intense guilt over her deception of Yuzuki and the manipulation of the wish.
After the resolution of the first Selector Battles through Ruko Kominato's wish, Hanayo returned to her original human body. She was later seen interacting casually with friends and observed Yuzuki and Kazuki together. In the film *Selector destructed WIXOSS*, she encountered Midoriko at a library. During their conversation, Hanayo expressed a desire to forget the traumatic events as a nightmare, but Midoriko countered this perspective, sharing her own positive realizations. Hanayo then revealed her full name as Hanayo Unjoh, and both characters shared a moment of laughter and understanding before parting.
During the subsequent Lostorage conflated WIXOSS conflict, Hanayo unexpectedly reverted to being an LRIG, once again paired with Yuzuki. She regretfully informed Yuzuki about the new Selector Battle rules involving wagered memories and "Key" cards, expressing concern for Yuzuki's safety and reluctance to involve her. Hanayo's demeanor showed increased seriousness and protectiveness, marked by regret for Yuzuki's renewed involvement. In a critical battle against the Selector Layla, both Hanayo and Yuzuki lost, transforming into Key Cards under Layla's control. Hanayo did not reappear until the final episode, where she, alongside Midoriko, intervened to stop Remember's violent pursuit of Kiyoi Mizushima. Following the ultimate defeat of the antagonist Mugen, Hanayo and the other LRIGs were permanently restored to human form. The conclusion showed her regaining her human body in a playground, observing Milulun's transformation nearby.
