Description
Charles Grey serves as one of Queen Victoria's Private Secretarial Officers and butlers, forming the duo "Double Charles" with his counterpart Charles Phipps. He hails from a distinguished noble family, famously linked to the Earl Grey tea name, with his grandfather having held the position of Prime Minister. Grey attended Weston College, graduating from the Jade Lion dormitory alongside Phipps.

He presents as a young man with silver hair, silver eyes, and long eyelashes. His characteristic attire includes an unfastened white swallow-tail coat revealing a dark lace-embellished shirt, white pants tucked into knee-high boots with spats, black gloves, and a distinctive pin featuring Queen Victoria's profile. He carries a rapier in a gold cage on his belt.

Grey exhibits a bold, self-assured personality with a pronounced affinity for violence and close combat, often describing fights as "play." He demonstrates cunning and strategic thinking, manipulating situations to pressure Ciel Phantomhive and recognizing inconsistencies in others' actions. Despite his confidence in physical confrontations, he harbors a strong fear of ghosts and snakes, refusing to believe in anything he cannot cut with his sword. Grey possesses a voracious appetite, consuming large quantities of food and alcohol without apparent effect. He displays arrogance, particularly toward Ciel, whom he privately derides as a "brat."

During the Phantomhive Manor Murders arc, Queen Victoria orders Grey to murder German banker Georg von Siemens and frame Ciel Phantomhive as punishment for perceived unsatisfactory results. Grey and Phipps forcibly enter Phantomhive Manor; Grey engages Baldroy and Mey-Rin in combat, easily defeating them. At a subsequent manor banquet, Grey provides Georg with tetrodotoxin to feign death. After Georg's "corpse" is moved to the cellar, Grey stabs him to death. He also attacks Sebastian Michaelis, stabbing him from behind while Sebastian investigates evidence and discarding remnants of the tetrodotoxin ampule. Grey expresses frustration at Sebastian's interference and discomfort at being forced to visit the cellar alone due to his fear of ghosts. His suspicion about Sebastian's survival after being stabbed hints at his perceptiveness.

Grey continues missions for the Queen. He participates in an Easter Egg Hunt at Phantomhive Manor partnered with Phipps, where they are disqualified after a fertilized egg hatches a chick. He accompanies the Queen to Weston College and delivers plant specimens from the Werewolves' Forest for analysis. During the Blue Cult Arc, he assists in Buckingham Palace preparations, greets visitors like Sieglinde Sullivan, and participates in investigations related to the Sphere Music Hall.

His partnership with Charles Phipps remains consistent, though their personalities contrast; Phipps exhibits calmness and restraint, while Grey embraces aggression. Grey's skills as a brilliant swordsman make him a formidable protector of the Queen.
