Description
Deus Ex Machina reigns as the God of Time and Space, tasked with preserving universal stability. He manifests as an immense figure towering over a hundred feet tall, crowned by a skeletal head reminiscent of an unknown beast, draped in long white and blue hair. Pale, elongated arms tipped with claw-like nails emerge from beneath a dark cloak detailed with golden accents and a red-purple neckband. This formidable form visibly crumbles as his death nears, mirrored by the disintegration of his throne within his domain, the Cathedral of Causality.

His nature blends detached playfulness with flashes of compassion. Facing his own demise and the universe's impending destruction, he creates the Survival Game—a battle royale among twelve Future Diary holders—to select his successor. Though he primarily seeks amusement, instigating conflicts like wars for diversion, he displays fairness and honor during the game, enforcing rules and countering unfair advantages. He values determination, rescuing the atheist terrorist Minene Uryuu from death and recruiting her despite her hatred of gods; later, he entrusts her with half his remaining power to thwart his servant Muru Muru's schemes. His relationships are varied: he favors Yukiteru Amano as a potential successor, shares a collaborative friendship with diary co-creator John Bacchus, and regards Minene as an ally despite her hostility.

Deus commands absolute authority over time, space, and causality. This allows him to rewind time (risking parallel world creation), manipulate the Akashic Records (the universal repository of all knowledge and history), and forge artificial life like the observer Aru Akise. With Bacchus, he crafts the Future Diaries, tailoring each to its holder's psyche to predict future events. His powers possess limitations: he cannot resurrect the dead (only restore empty bodies), lacks omniscience (failing to detect Muru Muru's replacement), and his influence is confined to his native universe, leaving him unaware of the first alternate world. His lifespan is intrinsically tied to the universe; his decline accelerates after sharing power with Minene, hastening cosmic collapse marked by destructive voids.

In the Second World, Deus initiates the Survival Game by transforming Yukiteru's phone into the Random Diary, then summons all participants to declare the rules while openly favoring Yukiteru. He monitors the game, permitting unexpected actions like diary loans and intervening only when balance is threatened, such as after Muru Muru's tampering. As death approaches, he reveals critical secrets to Minene, including Yuno Gasai's origins from the first world where she became god, and implants suppressed memories in Minene as a contingency. He dies alongside John Bacchus, triggering accelerated universal decay.

In *Future Diary: Redial*, set in the Third World, Deus's direct involvement is minimal, but his legacy shapes events. Yukiteru, having become the new God of Time and Space, isolates this world from previous timelines and prevents its native Deus's death. The Third World's Yuno Gasai, implanted with the first world Yuno's memories by Muru Muru, later reunites with Yukiteru across dimensions. This outcome fulfills Deus's original succession goal without further bloodshed, establishing Yuno and Yukiteru as dual gods preserving their respective universes. Supplementary materials, like the *Fragments* guidebook, suggest a potential human origin for Deus, implying his form was warped by godhood—a theory supported by his skull-like visage and profound detachment from human suffering.
