Originally designated Experiment 626, Stitch is an artificial life form created through illegal genetic engineering by Dr. Jumba Jookiba. Designed with innate destructive tendencies and advanced physical capabilities, he initially resided in Hawaii with Lilo Pelekai before departing Earth upon her reaching adulthood. During this time, Stitch resumed his destructive programming, leading to a confrontation with Galactic Federation authorities that propelled both him and Jumba through a space storm. Stitch crash-landed on the fictional Izayoi Island in the Ryukyu Islands near Okinawa, while Jumba was stranded near Saturn’s rings. On Izayoi Island, Stitch encountered Yuna Kamihara, a young girl living with her grandmother. After initial conflict, they formed a bond, and Stitch joined Yuna’s household. Yuna introduced him to the Chitama Spiritual Stone, a mystical artifact capable of granting wishes to those who perform 43 good deeds. Motivated by the desire to become the strongest being in the universe, Stitch pursued this goal, aided by a Good Deed Counter device constructed by Jumba, who later reunited with Stitch and Pleakley on the island. Stitch’s mischievous nature often caused setbacks by reducing his accumulated good deeds, but his growing attachment to Yuna and her community transformed his behavior. He befriended local yōkai like Kijimunaa and navigated rivalries with other children such as Penny. Antagonists from Stitch’s past, including Dr. Jacques von Hämsterviel, Captain Gantu, and Experiment 625/Reuben, pursued him to Izayoi. Hämsterviel sought the Spiritual Stone’s power, deploying other genetic experiments controlled via recordings of Experiment 624/Angel’s siren song to thwart Stitch. During conflicts, Stitch temporarily wielded the Stone’s power to protect Yuna, though he relinquished it to restore balance. By the end of his second season, Stitch abandoned his wish for ultimate strength, realizing his true desire was to remain with Yuna permanently, using his granted wish to ensure their enduring companionship. In the third season, Stitch relocated with Yuna, Jumba, Pleakley, and their pet BooGoo to Okinawa New Town, residing with Yuna’s cousin Tigerlily Sakai. Hämsterviel continued his pursuit under the direction of Delia, a former associate of Jumba. Delia sought a prototype cell within Stitch to create a superior experiment, Dark End. After a brutal confrontation where Dark End nearly killed Stitch, the collective support of his friends and family revitalized him, enabling Dark End’s defeat and Delia’s imprisonment. Subsequent interplanetary missions, including those in the special "Stitch and the Planet of Sand," involved Stitch and Pleakley confronting Hämsterviel and Gantu to safeguard their family and the galaxy. Physically, Stitch resembles a blue koala or French Bulldog, standing approximately three feet tall. He possesses retractable features, including a second set of arms, antennae, and dorsal spines. His documented abilities include superhuman strength (lifting objects 3,000 times his mass), durability (resisting bullets, fire, and extreme impacts), hyper-intelligence, multilingual fluency, wall-crawling, and rapid adaptation to vehicles or technology. In the anime continuity, he also temporarily wielded the Chitama Spiritual Stone’s power during crises.
