Description
Shigetsugu Kushinada, director of Jouga’s hospital and a prominent member of the Kushinada clan, occupies a pivotal role as both Nemuru Kushinada’s uncle and the second-in-command beneath his brother Juuzou, the village patriarch. Tasked with shaping decisions that govern the clan and the tradition-bound Old Town, he navigates the rigid expectations of his heritage while confronting Jouga’s medical crisis: the lethal Convulsion disease.
A dedicated physician bound by ethics, he secretly partners with pharmaceutical executive Shun’ichirou Sakaki, trading confidential patient data for resources to develop a cure—a defiance of clan law that could trigger brutal consequences. This clandestine pact strains his loyalty, as does the arrival of Hiroshi Kuzumi, a transfer student whose presence disturbs Shigetsugu’s precarious equilibrium.
Torn between ancestral obligations and the urgency to save lives, he wrestles with the moral weight of his choices, where the clan’s hostility toward outsiders clashes with his oath to heal. Each decision risks fracturing the fragile balance between preserving Jouga’s insular traditions and unraveling the shadows threatening its survival.
