Description
Viral is a Beastman engineered through human-animal DNA hybridization by the Spiral King Lordgenome. Initially serving as the Far East Theater Commander in the Human Eradication Army, his feline-shark hybrid physiology grants enhanced senses, demonstrated by detecting distant threats. A dedicated warrior, Viral adheres to a strict code of honor, refusing underhanded tactics or attacking defenseless opponents. This principle later drives him to disobey orders during a confrontation where Cytomander takes Yoko hostage. As a consequence of this defiance, Lordgenome grants Viral immortality, eliminating biological needs like sustenance or rest while enabling rapid healing from any injury; Viral requested this to understand humanity.

Following Lordgenome's defeat, Viral resurfaces years later protecting humans resistant to surface relocation, resulting in his imprisonment alongside Simon. A brawl occurs during their incarceration before they form an alliance against the Anti-Spiral threat. Simon formally recruits Viral as the permanent pilot of Gurren, Kamina's former Gunmen, cementing his place in Team Dai-Gurren. Though Beastmen typically lack Spiral Power, Viral manifests it during the final battle against the Anti-Spiral, forming the galaxy-sized Tengen Toppa Enki Durga. This entity wields fourteen weapons and withstands universe-scale assaults, including attacks comparable to the Big Bang.

His primary Gunmen, Enkidudu, features four arms and weaponry like kunai launchers and wrist shields. It demonstrates capabilities such as mountain-destroying beams and matching Gurren Lagann's speed. Viral pilots Enkidudu during surface skirmishes post-Lordgenome before transitioning to Gurren. In combat against the Anti-Spiral, he contributes significantly to their defeat, dueling Granzeboma and assisting Simon's final strike. During the Multiverse Labyrinth illusion, Viral experiences a familial life with a wife and daughter, revealing a subconscious longing for connection despite dismissing it as sentimentality.

Personality-wise, Viral evolves from contempt toward humans—derisively calling them "Naked Apes"—to respecting their resolve. His rivalry with Kamina shifts toward camaraderie with Simon, embracing Team Dai-Gurren's ethos and delivering motivational speeches. He openly adopts their philosophy, declaring alignment with their cause despite not grasping all technical aspects of Spiral Power.
